Job Title: Automotive Mechanic
Reports to: Shift Supervisor or Program Manager
Pay Rate:
Dependent on experience: $28.00 - $31.00 an hour
Job Summary and General Purpose of Position:
The Automotive Mechanic / Maintenance Technician performs basic, as well as top-end mechanical and safety inspections, diagnosis and repairs of all vehicle systems, and various duties on fleet vehicles. This person will investigate mechanical/electrical operational difficulties on products and/or components and perform corrective action.
Essential Job Functions:
- Diagnosis and repair vehicle electrical and mechanical systems
- Perform all routine vehicle maintenance tasks
- Perform vehicle safety inspections
- Ability to follow detailed and technical procedures
- Print, obtain and interpret diagnostic read outs utilizing development software and tools
- Must be physically able to perform heavy work such as tire changes, transmission removals, etc.
· Perform specialized mechanical and/or electrical tests on product components or series of components with little or no supervision
· Ability to read and complete work orders
· Maintain records on work performed, analyze collected data, and report results
· Maintain organized workspace, safety practices, and supplies
· Act as a trainer/mentor to other employees when assigned
· Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Job Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Diploma from an automotive trade school or college preferred. Current ASE or other Certifications in various disciplines, preferred.
Skills/Experience: Minimum of 3 years automotive mechanical experience with knowledge of hybrid systems and repair procedures, preferred. Experience using diagnostic software tools. Familiarity with English/Metric conversions. Must posses a thorough knowledge of complex mechanical and/or electrical concepts. Ability to read and comprehend complex engineering drawings. Good verbal

Skills/Experience: Flexibility to perform numerous tasks as required. Ability to apply logical thinking and decision making based on established guidelines and procedures.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds. Job requires standing and bending for approximately 6-8 hours on a daily basis. Must be able to travel as required to support customer testing needs. Must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours weekly and remain flexible and available to work overtime and odd hours, including weekends, and holidays. Must be willing to work on other shifts, as required. Ability to pass a drug screen and physical required.
