Law firm seeks a Law Librarian and CE/CLE Coordinator with three years of law firm or law library experience to provide legal and non-legal research and reference answers to attorneys and support personnel. Job is currently remote with the option to remain remote when employees return to the building. The Librarian will locate and retrieve new complaint filing or provide litigation search requests of complaint filings by party, attorney or law firm, topic, or case number; provide legislative history; download court case filings and docket reports; locate verdict summary records requests for all states by party, attorney, expert witness, topic, injury, or damages, including evaluating monetary damage ranges; locate profiles, testimony, transcripts, and opposition research (challenges) of expert witnesses for all states and provide attorneys with examples of expert witnesses for upcoming discovery and trials; provide attorneys with judicial profiles, attorney profiles, company investigations, state agency license information, and jury pool statistics and demographics; conduct background checks, locating adverse public records information (civil, traffic, and criminal court reports) as well as social security numbers, driver license numbers, current mailing addresses for subpoenas, and asset searches; and conducting social media research and reports on individuals. Selected candidate will maintain up-to-date knowledge on changes to laws, court rules, and judicial rosters (especially LASC P.I. court).
The Librarian will also collaborate with the Marketing and Business Development Departments by creating distribution services to attorneys, providing service through alerts, clips, and routing material. Candidate will process library invoices, handling inventory, cost recovery, and acquisitions/orders (standing orders and one-time purchases) of print and electronic library research resources; assess cost recovery of downloading court documents, medical journal articles, interlibrary loan checkouts and copying requests, and processing invoices from library vendors.
Additional responsibilities of the Law Librarian include acting as administrator of electronic resources and services (Westlaw, File & ServeXpress, Martindale-Hubbell, LASC Online, PACER, and TransUnion) and managing employees’ access; and will recommend, manage, and train staff on upgrades. Additionally, candidate will provide and manage CLE forms firmwide for continuing legal education including firm approval, sign-in sheets, course activity, record of attendance, and generating completion certificates. The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
