Working with the Principals, Founder and design team, the Assistant Designer acts as administrative and design support on all phases of high-end, residential interior design projects. This position requires some knowledge of interior design and a strong ability to organize information, manage time and documentation, and follow through on assignments under deadline pressure. Please note that you must have a valid and current student and/or work visa and reside in the U.S.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Principals, Senior Designers, and Design Associates with various design and administrative tasks related to all phases of high-end, residential interior design from initial planning through project completion.
Gather detailed information and quotes for preparation of accurate design proposals. Create and prepare proposals and proposal packages for submission to clients.
Prepare and submit purchase orders to vendors.
Maintain continual communication with Principal and design team staff regarding project timelines and orders, including the progress of custom orders, timing for fabric selections, workroom inspections, and other project-related information.
Research and supply information to Design Associates and Senior Designers for successful creation of project budgets.
Track and coordinate all reserves, CFAs, lead times, inspections, deliveries, and installations. Schedule review of items for approval with vendor and client.
Support the Design Associates in the preparation of floor, space, and furniture plans and elevations in AutoCAD, and the production of hand drawings or computer renderings that communicate design intent.
Support the Design Associates in the preparation and maintenance of interior design plan documents such as finish schedules, specifications, product/room matrixes, templates, schedules, and shop drawings.
As needed, assist the design team with product sourcing and installations.
Develop long-term relationships with clients, design showrooms and vendors.
Maintain all project-related information in paper filing systems, electronic folders, and Studio IT.
Assist in the weekly maintenance of the office.
Other duties as assigned.
2 or 4-year degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture or equivalent skill set
At least one to two years of experience in high-end residential design
Some administrative experience
Experience and comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Must be detail-oriented, organized, accurate and consistent in all paperwork and data management
Creative problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written
Beginner-level skills in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and/or other design programs
Knowledge of - or ability to quickly learn - Studio IT
Ability to interact with peers, management, and other staff in a professional manner
Ability to work within a team and proactively create harmonious and professional relationships
Willingness to observe company policies, procedures, and the instructions of the Principal and management
Interest in furniture and product design
