Job Summary

The Elders' Center Manager acts in a key leadership position within the Kenaitze Indian Tribe whose primary responsibility is the oversight of the Tribe's Elders' Center and related programs and staff. The Manager reports to the Tribal Programs Director and responds to budgetary and performance measures and achievement of goals and strategies related to food services, advocacy and recreational activities while developing community relations within the Kenai Peninsula.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee all Elders' Center functions including daily meal preparation, service, meal delivery, senior transportation, senior activities, elder advocacy, facilities management, and supervision of all Elders' staff.
  • Responsible to ensure the overall cleanliness of the facility meets DEC, FDA and OSHA standards.
  • Manage advocacy staff for intake assessments, referral services, in home assistance to include financial and estate planning and transportation to medical appointments and ensuring documentation is completed.
  • Coordinate efforts with other departments and outside agencies to provide senior services, including Tribal Court, Social Services, and Behavioral
  • Health, Wellness and community resources.
  • Monitors grant performance, renewal and completes all grant-reporting requirements for Part A/C Administration for Community Living (ACL) and
  • Nutrition Services Incentive Program (NSIP).
  • Create and administer the budget from annual funding received from Indian Health Services, Tribal Funds, ACL, and NSIP; research and identify grant opportunities.
  • Strategically plan and develop future growth of the Elders Program through collaborations with Tribal Council, the Executive Office and other Tribal programs/departments.
  • Manage, mentor, train and succession planning for all Elder Program employees.
  • Conduct staff meetings, review timeclock entries and approve ReqLogic requests, complete internal program reporting for Committee and Council meetings.
  • Review reports of harm cases, report incidents of suspected elder abuse and/or neglect according to State Law, and adhere to all regulations for protection and safety of elders and staff.

  • Associates in Human Services or related field, or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree.


  • Three (3) years' experience in Elders/Seniors management.
  • Two (2) years supervision experience.


  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification, or obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • MANDT certification, or obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Food Protection Manager Certification, or obtain within 90 days.
  • A valid Alaska Driver's License and remain insurable under the Tribe's policy.

Special Skills

  • Availability to work occasional nights and weekends.
  • Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to lift program materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities.
