This Plant Manager position is going to replace the current Plant Manager, who is retiring! Our client needs for this person to come in with a background in process improvement (no certifications required). They also need for this person to be able to have a "we" attitude and the ability to support a team atmosphere.
This Plant Manager will have department supervisors reporting directly to them (about 6-7), with a total team of about 50 when you include those department supervisors' teams. This company is in the structural steel industry, but they are not requiring experience in that area. Despite the nature of their product, the production floor consist of mainly "light manufacturing" (vs. heavy steel fabrication), so they are seeking a plant manager who has previous experience running a production floor of almost any kind.
Here are some areas of focus:
Oversee Management personnel (including Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, Shipping/Receiving)
- minimize overtime
- minimize waste
- increase efficiency
- Production Orders
- Fabrication Orders
- Stressing Gear Orders
- Conduct weekly and monthly inventory
- Determine order quantities/dates to ensure enough quantities on hand/keeping minimum amounts required
- Provide feedback to purchasing and vendors on materials quality and other issues
Receive and account for all incoming materials
Communication with Project Managers on a weekly basis
Mentor, educate, and train all plant leadership personnel
Maintain production records and costs
