Material Research Chemist
\t\t\t(Must be local to Marlborough, MA or surrounding areas)

Today, Kelly Services is searching for a R&D Chemist to join the team of a Fortune 500 chemical company in Marlborough, MA under a long term contract, to perform a variety of tests on a 12 hour rotating schedule.
Specific responsibilities include:
Maintain appropriate focus on personal and process safety, product integrity and environmental stewardship.
Identify new materials, formulations, processes and characterization methods to design material solutions to meet specified material properties for target electronic material applications
Preparation of formulations and coated samples and performing sample characterization, including TGA, DSC, DMA, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and etc.
Prepare paperwork for sample shipping and analytical work request
Sample preparation and shipping to partners and/or customers
Accurate documentation of experimental details and test results in a timely manner
Design process for product scale-up (up to several gallons)
Clearly communicate research goals and plans to team members of varying technical backgrounds.
Demonstrate ability to work cross functionally with personnel at multiple levels.
Work closely with customers to identify technical gaps and support customer needs for product development
The material scientist position is focused on delivering novel materials and solutions that will be used in products to address the technical challenges across electronic materials various business needs, with an emphasis on display and other emerging technologies.
Previous experience in chemical lab on formulation, coating, film characterization, test development strongly preferred.
Position will involve 70% laboratory work. Currently a temporary position for 12 months.
Key requirements include:
Education and Training: Bachelor or master in Chemistry, Material Science or Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 2 years of industry experience is preferred.
Experience on polymer design, structure-relationship characterization (i.e. formulation, thin-film coating, and characterization including IR, UV-Vis, DMA, TMA, TGA, adhesion, etc.)
Competency in problem solving and statistical data analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Well-organized, detail- and results-oriented team player.
