The Administrative Assistant/Receptionist is an integral part of the administrative team that is the first point of contact for clients seeking services, either by phone or in person. Because we strive to be barrier-free and client-centered, the position requires an individual who really enjoys working with people; has the skills and capacity to respond in an empathetic and respectful way to clients who are often in crisis; and can work effectively in a collegial and fast-paced environment. The position also provides clerical and other administrative support to staff and legal practice areas.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide phone reception, assessing clients- eligibility and legal issues, and directing clients to appropriate internal or external referrals.
Provide in-person reception, including following appropriate intake procedures and policies for EBCLC-s various legal practice areas.
Work collaboratively with other reception and administrative staff to contribute to the effective functioning of the administrative reception group.
Complete data entry and filing for practice area case and brief service files; assist with client satisfaction surveys and other administrative tasks associated with EBCLC-s legal services. Additional duties, as assigned by supervisor.
**Requirements**
High school diploma or GED required.
Fluency in spoken Spanish required; fluency in written Spanish desirable.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in an empathetic and professional manner, with strong verbal communication skills. Experience with de-escalation desirable.
Solid administrative experience, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and database software.
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to quickly learn and manage a wide variety of program information.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of groups, including people with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities, people in crisis, low-income people, people of color, law students, attorneys, and service providers.
Demonstrated experience in working with confidential information, requiring discretion and good judgment.
