Position Overview

The Sales Manager, BlackOak oversees and provides tactical and strategic leadership to BlackOak producing teams to achieve maximum profitability and sales growth in line with company financial and strategic goals. Also, this position collaborates on marketing initiatives to develop and implement strategies to promote BlackOak services in support of the vision and brand of the organization. This position functions independently and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals. The Producing Department Sales Manager reports to and receives direction from the Managing Director and may receive direction from the Director of Operations.

Essential Duties

  • Manages daily workflow of full sales producing team; builds and documents processes for this workflow.
  • Develops, maintains, and improves business relationships with current clients.
  • Seeks out and targets new customers and new sales opportunities initiates action plans to approach and secure new business and penetrate new markets.
  • Collaborates with the Managing Director in setting team and individual employee goals; coaches team on ways to meet these goals.
  • Partners with Human Resources and Managing Director in attracting, retaining, and developing team members.
  • Develops onboarding, training, and continuing development programs.
  • In collaboration with Managing Director, develops, evaluates and reports on short and long-term goals.
  • Assigns sales relationships and inbound projects, ensures contracts and payments are collected in a timely manner, reviews PTO requests, and reviews commission payouts.
  • Administers and develops producing related modules of the CRM system. Trains team in use of CRM system.
  • Ensures that the sales teams meet or exceed all activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals, and closing rate.
  • Guides sales team in preparation of proposals and presentations. In collaboration with Operations Team, reviews proposals to ensure proposals are timely, accurate, and competitively priced, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding sales performance and reports on sales metrics against long term targets.
  • Develops client satisfaction processes that ensure the highest level of client retention.
  • Builds relationships with venues and clients to ensure high levels of vendor and client satisfaction.
  • Sets priorities and resolves conflicts between competing demands.
  • Establishes cooperative working relationships with all departments.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve sales processes, decrease turnaround times, and work cooperatively to provide quality, seamless event production and design.
  • Collaborates with the marketing team and Managing Director to develop marketing, advertising, and promotional strategies to promote the company’s products and services across all product lines in keeping with the vision and brand of the organization.
  • Tracks and enters time and assigns hours and tasks to appropriate events and jobs in time and attendance system.
  • Completes all Human Resources and Payroll tasks and notifications through the Employee Self Service Online Portal on a weekly basis, as directed and within established timelines.
  • Complies with all department and company safety guidelines, procedures, and rules.
  • Completes all safety training as directed and within established timelines.
  • Establishes safety guidelines and expectations, and ensures that staff follows all company and departmental safety guidelines, procedures and rules.
  • May perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of related work and experience in sales management, Sales Advocacy or coaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a sales team manage client relationships.
  • A bachelor’s in business administration, Psychology in a field related to technical event Design.
  • Proven people-focused Leadership in Sales environment skills; proven experience in developing and managing effective sales, financial, and team growth plans.
  • Excellent writing skills and copywriting skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required, particularly in Excel. Knowledge of sales-focused CRM technologies.
  • Ability to develop, read, calculate, and interpret contracts, commission statements, and financial reports.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communications and conflict management skills.
  • Effective diplomacy, problem-solving, and mediation skills.
  • Works well under pressure with a proven ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced setting, and meet deadlines and goals.
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, and outstanding follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with diverse individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, share skills and knowledge with others.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of event venues is preferred.
  • Physical and Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to use a computer 75% the work day.
  • Ability to sit up to 75% of the work day.
  • Ability to walk 25% of the work day.
  • Required to move throughout the buildings during the work day.
  • Ability to travel to client and venue locations to preview events.
  • Must be able to tolerate moderate noise.
  • Must have 20/20 vision with correction.
