Job Description

Kearney is currently seeking an Audit Senior Manager to join our Alexandria, VA team who can apply technical expertise and skills to develop a strategy that helps guide a large DoD service toward a successful, financial statement audit.

The Audit Senior Manager will help develop and maintain productive working relationships with senior client personnel and assess clients' satisfaction, demonstrate proficiency with accounting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations. This position requires a mastery of process documentation, risk assessment, planning, and writing skills. Additional skills and responsibilities are defined below:

  • Develop detailed plans that implement strategic goals and overall audit strategy
  • Provide subject matter technical expertise to team in financial management areas of financial reporting, audit remediation planning, and financial statement compilation
  • Support strategic communications to foster coordination of enterprise stakeholders
  • Provided advice and coordination to operationalize audit remediation strategy, including auditability goals, budgetary reform efforts, systems consolidation, data transformation, and workforce initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Years of Experience: Must have a minimum of full-time (excluding internships) 7 years of experience within the past 10 years of progressive experience providing accounting services to the Federal Government agencies or Fortune 500 companies.Three years of this experience must be in a management capacity.
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited United States college or university.
  • Minimum Certification: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed by a State licensing agency
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an interim U.S. Secret security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
  • Understanding of GAS, GAAP, SSFAS, audit procedures, audit cycle, and financial analysis techniques, as they apply to DoD financial statements and assessable units 
  • Proficient in MS Project
  • Self-starter, takes the initiative to deliver quality work products to the client with little direction from supervisor
  • Utilize technology to share knowledge with team members, develop skills, and continually learn
