SUMMARY: Responsible for assuring the continuous supply and timely procurement of packaging materials and supplies in order to maintain maximum production levels at optimum costs consistent with quality specifications. Work closely coordination with the buyers to track data that is required for Purchasing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Optimization of ERP system
+ Maintain a thorough knowledge of uses of the purchased supplies.
+ Maintain reliable sources of supply and secondary sources as back up.
+ Investigate all sources to determine market trends that may have an effect on prices.
+ Assist the Director of Corporate Procurement in obtaining bids and awarding contracts.
+ Participate in negotiations
+ Continued industry awareness of new materials and techniques.
+ Aid in developing new or changed packaging or supplies at minimum costs.
+ Maintain accurate up-to-date cost records. Keep accurate records for all items including master and basic data specifications for all items purchased.
+ Track purchasing data for the department.
+ Schedule meetings.
+ Distribute Supplies.
+ Monitor equipment issues with printers, copiers etc.
+ Document procedures.
+ Learn and ensure company and U.S.D.A. policies are followed.
+ Cross-train other employees.
+ Consults with and works closely with Production personnel and production planning concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and make improvements to processes.
+ Work with production personnel to introduce new products and processes into production.
+ Provides forecasts for new products to operations department to ensure products comply with established procedures and requirements.
+ May lead and direct the work of others.
+ Backup the buyers
+ Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three years of related experience. College Grad preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations such as machine speeds, pounds per hour, and to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS:
Should have or plan to receive (within 2 years), CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager).

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Must be computer literate (proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and Power Point). ERP Microsoft Dynamics AX system. Should have above average Excel skills - example Pivot tables

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to refrigerated and wet conditions. The noise level in the plant is usually moderately loud.
