The Kauai Historical Society (KHS) is seeking to hire an Administrative Assistant.
For over 100 years KHS has been dedicated to the preservation and celebration of Kauaʻi history. The new Administrative Assistant will be responsible for managing day-to-day office and operational tasks of the organization and collaborate with volunteers, researchers, and the Board of Directors to help maintain the activities of KHS.
Compensation: $20 per hour
Employment type: Part-time (10-15 hours per week) with great schedule flexibility and work from home options.

Responsibilities will include:
Basic clerical duties
Telephone - answering calls; monitoring incoming and outgoing messages; troubleshooting.
Monitor emails and checking the mail
Filing office documents
Purchasing - office and archival supplies; paper goods for community outreach events
Maintenance of office areas
Keys – maintain log of office, post office, and off-site Annex keys
Upload and organize files in Google Drive.
Research Requests
Refer researchers to archivists
Monitor incoming donations.
Newsletters and Appeals
Collaborate with Board of Directors and Volunteers to prepare and distribute the KHS quarterly newsletter
Collaborate with the Board of Directors in crafting and mailing out appeal letters
Membership
Help manage membership accounts and renewals.
Collect and deposit membership dues
Bookkeeping / QuickBooks Online
Invoice researchers.
Receive in-office payments.
Assistant accountant with bookkeeping activities.
Issue payments for KHS operational expenses.
Miscellaneous
Assist with KHS book sales;
Assist with other tasks as needed.
Requirements:
Experience is a plus, but you will be working with a team that is willing to train and help you grow!
Education
High School or equivalent
Experience
1-2 years of experience at an office clerical or customer service capacity required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of office equipment including phones, computers, calculators, copiers, and printers
Strong working knowledge of Office/Business software/applications (ie: Word, Excel, Docs, Sheets, Zoom, Google Docs, G-Suite)
Experience with QuickBooks Online is a plus but not required
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to learn
Ability to take initiative and work independently under limited supervision
