Job Description

Advanced Automaton Manager

Responsible for ensuring a strong internal controls environment through the development of policies and procedures, ensuring their implementation and monitoring compliance. Will work to foster standardization and consistency across Company locations. Requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with strong organizational skills.
 

·       Development / enhancements to machine network Topologies

·       Keep up with new technologies and industry trends such as things as; CO-bots/Collaborative Robots, Ind 4.0, I.oT., A.I. Analytics, Augmented Reality, and Machine Learning.

·       Develop new assembly and error proofing methods following best practices of lean principles that has a good balance of technologies that effectively works in harmony with people.

·       Develop / enhance core vendor relationships and work with purchasing team developing corporate pricing / agreements

·       Lead/Oversee, Development and Maintenance of Company Corporate standard related to Machine Controls that will be used throughout Company.

·       Monitor and oversee SCADA system, methods, and approach.

·       Recommend and implement policies, and lead best practices efforts

·       Ensure PLC programs are in compliance with state and federal laws, and regulations.

·       Affect audit process to validate compliance to the standard

·       Manage software licensing contracts related to machine controls

·       Hold a minimum of quarterly meetings with ALL Company Plant Level Controls Managers to help ensure Company standards are being followed and any read across from plant level are rolled up into corporate standards where required.

·       Lead / Champion all 13D BOS documents related to Company controls.

·       Oversee Company standards related to Torque process interfaces to networks, Vision process, Robotic process with the latest trending on the relevant technologies and methods to enhance projects performances.

·       Perform system design, programming, simulation, and testing, of new and existing programs.

·       Ensure all Machine / PLC backups are following Company best practices

·       Interface with Manufacturing Engineers and Program Management to ensure manufacturing issues are addressed with the development of new assembly methods, new equipment and new tooling.

·       Develop plans to improve the skills of controls teams and monitor overall effectiveness.

·       Develop yearly Controls budget and support Adv. Mfg. departmental budget planning related to machine controls.

·       Lead Company SOR’s for tooling and equipment for new quotations are at or ahead of industry technologies related to Controls and Automation.

·       Update Department Managers on progress of projects

·       Support new business quotes, as required

·       All interactions with customers must be in a timely fashion with a professional positive attitude.

·       Participate in Continuous Improvement and Great Ideas initiatives.

·       Enhance the Launch Readiness process through lessons learned

·       Document all activities as required.

·       Adhere to all company guidelines for Emergency Evacuation to ensure employee safety

·       Any additional responsibility deemed necessary by management.

Basic Education, Experience and Skills Required
 

·       Bachelor’s degree in an Electrical Engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·       8 years of hands-on programming and controls experience in a related field.

·       Prior experience in: Alan Bradley Logic (RockWell), AB HMI Logic, RS Logic, Visual Basic, Device Net, SQL, Crystal Reports, Fanuc Robots, and AutoCad

·       Must demonstrate proficiency in the development and management of process control solutions, from collecting data through the design, configuration, and integration processes.

·       Must be competent in programming and the development / implementation of engineering guidelines and standards

·       Experience with Vision Camera systems (Cognex)

·       Experience with Robotic (Fanuc) systems

·       Experience with DC guns (Atlas Copco)

·       Working / managing tool and equipment vendors

·       Lock Out Tag Out methods and standards

·       Good mechanical / technical skills, proficient aptitude with Computer programs 

·       Possess demonstrated leadership abilities, organizational and communication skills.

·       Adaptable to working in a fast paced, ever-changing environment

·       Striving for continuous improvement and optimization
