Motor Mechanic

JOB TITLE:              MOTOR MECHANIC

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  SHOP FOREMAN

JOB SUMMARY:   

Test, repair, rebuild and assemble various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment.     

WORK PERFORMED:      

Test electro-mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using  approved methods, procedures and testing equipment.  (AC and DC).

Disassemble electro-mechanical equipment using proper procedures & tools.  Records labor times, parts condition, work required, tolerances, etc. as set forth in ‘Quality Control Procedures’.

Clean electro-mechanical equipment assemblies as needed using but not limited to:  parts washers/steamers, etc.

Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies, including but not limited to:  bearings, brushes, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, clutch rotors, tachs, fans, end shields, etc.

Assemble and retest electro-mechanical equipment for proper operation.

Examine parts, blueprints/drawings to determine methods of operation to be used in manufacture/modification or repair of mechanical assemblies.

Perform welding operations, including setup and use of TIG, torch and stick welders.

Complete all required tasks and paperwork for each job accurately and timely in order to maximize quality and profit.

Adhere to all safety procedures and use proper protective gear and equipment. (cranes, safety glasses, ear plugs, respirators etc)

Keep work area orderly and clean.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred minimum level of education: high school diploma.

Preferred qualifications:  millwright or industrial maintenance background.

SPECIAL SKILLS: 

Basic mechanical aptitude. 

Ability to understand, perform and retain various skill-related training and operational and safety procedures .

Must have completed a five-year, hands-on apprenticeship.
