Fleet Diesel Mechanic

Kaiser Transport, Inc is seeking a hard-charging, highly motivated person for the position of Fleet Diesel Mechanic. We will train the right person who has technical training from an accredited program. This is a full time entry level position with responsibilities in routine and preventative maintenance. Kaiser Transport, Inc is a LTL step-deck, double-drop, trucking company (located in Janesville, WI) that runs an OTR Peterbilt fleet, specializing in hauling machines and equipment. Kaiser Transport, Inc runs an elite fleet of 2019 or newer 389 Peterbilts and Reitnouer step-deck and double-drop trailers. This is a unique opportunity for the right applicant.

This position reports to the Fleet Manager and will perform the following:

Inspection/inventory and repair of semi-trucks/trailers
Inspect/repair of material handling equipment
Inspection/repair of general purpose company vehicles
Assist in the set up of new equipment
Perform basic maintenance on Company Fleet trucks & trailers
o Tire changes
o Electrical repairs
o Oil changes
o Welding
o Brake replacement
o Shop Maintenance-Cleaning

KEY JOB Requirements
Technical training from an accredited program
Capable of proactively seeking out needed repairs
Speak and read English
Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written directions from supervisor and/or co-workers
Must be self motivated and be able to work without direct supervision
Must have reliable transportation
Must have your own tools
Must have average to excellent body coordination
Must be able to work from heights of ground level to possible heights exceeding 18 feet
Ability to lift and carry up to 130 pounds
Ability to Push & Pull from moderate to maximum effort
Ability to bend at waist and to kneel while possibly lifting at the same time
Ability to reach/twist in conjunction with pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling and bending.
Must have experience with computers, computer programs, diagnostic trouble shooting tools, and typing.
Have adequate body balance to climb, bend, lift, and crawl onto, around and over cargo

Pay range for the Fleet Diesel Mechanic position is $16 - $24/hr depending on experience/qualifications and includes a weekly $3/hr discretionary performance pay. This is a non-exempt hourly position.

This is a 2nd shift full time position- start time will vary based on the truck maintenance schedule-Fleet Diesel Mechanics work up to 60 hours per week.
