Materials Engineering Technician

Elzly Technology Corporation (Elzly) is recruiting for a Materials Engineering Technician in Reston, VA that will assist engineering staff in evaluating and inspecting corrosion control materials. This role requires a diligent and detail-oriented individual who can work independently and can also document the results of their work in written reports and memorandums. Typical tasks will include assembling components, preparing test panels, working with a wide variety of paints and other corrosion control materials, and field inspection of test equipment and systems in service. In addition, contacting material vendors to gain product information; application of organic coatings or lubricants, oils, and sealants; and travel to sites across the USA to inspect equipment, individually or as part of a larger team.

Critical skills include the ability to document tests and observations in proper English; the ability to read testing standards and follow written procedures and the ability to work with personal computers and hand-held data collection devices.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• 2-5 years' experience as a technician or a B.S. degree in a technical field
• Experience in laboratory or field testing - preferred
• Experience as a USMC or Army Ground Vehicle Maintainer - preferred
• Experience with industrial welding, painting or sand blasting

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Ability to produce written memorandums and reports ( a writing sample will be required)
• Ability to distill trends from data sets (excel, access)
• Ability to work with common tools and with produce test assemblies with repetition and craftsmanship.
• PC/electronic tool savvy.
• Work as a team member.

Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be willing to pursue (or have) a government security clearance.

Physical Requirements

Close, distance, color, and depth vision, manual dexterity (to handle small objects, instruments, or gages), ability to adjust focus, work from a ladder or lift occasionally, safely lift 20 pounds, walk on uneven ground or terrain, work in confined spaces, crawl for extended periods of time, enter 24" diameter space, hear, work outside (including inclement weather), wear a respirator, speak and smell.
