GENERAL SUMMARY

The Laminate Glass Supervisor will manage the assembly and lamination process for all the laminated glass products.  This position will be in a cleanroom atmosphere where attention to detail and following process and procedure is paramount. Focus on perfection and quality must be inherent with all phases of this operation and to meet and hold certification standards. Specialized equipment and materials are used in the laminating process and the laminate supervisor must be well versed in all these areas.  The laminate glass has extremely tight quality tolerances and overall quality must be perfect. The Laminate Supervisor will lead a team of specialized assembly techs that can assemble and produce top quality laminate glass in a standardized time allocation system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise specialized laminate techs to assemble and produce top quality laminate glass.
  • Work closely with quality tech to adhere to strict process guidelines and follow all certification and testing procedures.
  • Ensure clean glass and interlayer properly prepared and applied through laminate process.
  • Stock the latest in technology laminate production tools for proper assembly and production of laminate glass.
  • Must be well versed in the operation and programming of the laminating equipment itself.
  • Can conduct and teach the in-house ball drop test along with extreme focus on the adherence and evacuation laminate process for overall laminate quality.
  • This will be a high production and labor-intensive process where close monitoring and communication is needed with the Manufacturing Manager to ensure on time delivery.
  • Expected to be instrumental and responsive to changes in the production schedule as required.  May help in other areas as required.
  • Will be OSHA 10 certified.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Be familiar with the latest technology of laminate interlayers and specialty tools.
  • The entire work area must always be kept extremely clean and free of dust. Specialty white gloves and handling tools are required in this operation to ensure the proper adhesion and evacuation process is perfect every time.
  • Keep production items well stocked such as tools for trimming interlayer and proper clamping for locating glass panels evenly around the perimeter of the glass.
  • Clear training and understanding of laminate bagging system and properly loading table.
  • Must log and retain proper recipes for a multitude of glass thickness and interlayer types and thickness for proper adhesion through laminate machine process.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in design and implementation of production KPMs.
  • Assist in identification of KPMs to create a completely accountable, 100% customer satisfaction goal.
  • Will conduct annual quality audits with in-house auditors and 3rd party auditors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of the job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.   
  • The employee exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.  
  • Vision requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; clarity of vision at 20 feet or more; ability to identify and distinguish colors; the ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships; and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.   
  • Work is performed in shop environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions and vibration.  There is occasional exposure to humid and extreme non-weather related cold or hot conditions.  There is frequent exposure to constant very loud sounds sufficient enough to cause distraction.
