The Shop Fabricator is responsible for assisting in the execution of the fabrication processes. 



  • Ability to read tape measure and cut materials accurately.
  • Understand essential components of storefront and curtainwall framing.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and glaze aluminum frames per frame requirements.
  • Utilize hand and power tools in order to complete fabrication tasks.
  • Crate and package product per shipping plans.
  • Offload arriving materials from delivery trucks.
  • Exercise basic material handling methods to prevent damage to the finished product.
  • Ensure that shop is kept clean prior to shift end.
  • Practice a safety-minded approach and exercise safe work practices required for tools and equipment in the shop.
  • Organize, strategize, and plan work sequencing and process to ensure completion.
  • Assist in any other shop activities as the shop foreman sees fit.
  • Shop Fabricator will be forklift certified.
  • Shop Fabricator will be OHSA 10 certified.
  • Shop Fabricator will be DOT certified.


  • Learn glass handling and standard glazing techniques to effectively assist other Team members.
  • Participate in appropriate communication with clients’ field personnel and representatives, and other trades.
  • Review assigned projects with the Shop Metal Fabrication Lead or Department Director to establish best fabrication methods and verify accuracy of scope of new work.
  • Anticipate needs to complete fabrication, including materials, labor and other resources to meet project deadlines.
  • Communicate with Project Team to plan upcoming work, in-house fabrication and job material requirements.
  • Assist Shop Metal Fabrication Lead or Department Director in maintaining adequate shop inventory of commonly used hardware and supplies.
  • Responsible for shop truck and equipment cleanliness.
  • Responsible for following directions from Shop Metal Fabrication Lead or Department Director.
  • Anticipate how to assist Shop Metal Fabrication Lead or Department Director on to best execute fabrication.
  • Follow efficient and established fabrication procedures according to pre-defined plan and schedule, as directed by Shop Metal Fabrication Lead or Department Director
  • Familiarize self with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of the fabrication process.
  • Be available to run errands as needed.
  • Possible field installation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Possible overtime and/or weekend work as required to meet job requirements.


  1. Direct Supervisor is Shop Metal Fabrication Lead or Department Director
  2. Participate in scheduled Shop meetings and team meetings.


  • While performing the duties of the job the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel while typing at a computer keyboard.
  • The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.
  • The employee exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Vision requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; clarity of vision at 20 feet or more; ability to identify and distinguish colors; the ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships; and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  • Work is performed in a construction environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and potentially extreme outdoor weather conditions. There is occasional exposure to loud sounds sufficient enough to cause distraction.
