Overview 

The Senior Network Engineer plans, designs, implements, maintains and/or manages the multiple levels of support of the network environment. This position is responsible for the development and analysis of complex, leading-edge network systems to align with business strategy.


Responsibilities

•    Administer all network equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
•    Serve as the technical point of contact for the select customer and internal teams
•    Analyze local and wide area network systems, including testing.
•    Provide design, migration, implementation, and deployment services/guidance.
•    Perform network system backups per documented methods and procedures.
•    Assist in the design and review of new data, voice and/or telephony deployments.
•    Maintain firewalls to ensure proper security controls are in place.
•    Assist in preparing quotes, procure hardware and ensure delivery and installation in conjunction with K2 Procurement teams
•    Provide support for new applications and upgrades to existing systems.
•    Install, configure, and support equipment from a variety of vendors.
•    Communicate with clients and vendors involved in provisioning activities.
•    Contribute to the completion of specific programs and projects.
•    Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed
•    Automate network monitoring to provide a proactive approach to mitigate network issues.
•    Plan network layouts and configure systems to user environments.

 

Qualifications 

•    Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering/Computer Science related field or equivalent work experience
•    One or more vendor certifications:  Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet FSE, etc. 
•    7+ years’ experience in a large multi-platform environment or equivalent technical experience 
•    Ability to analyze and oversee the design of complex network products, projects, and services to meet corporate needs. 
•    Strong analytical\trouble shooting skills with extensive work experience; experience in providing situational analysis for networking\telecommunications. 
•    Strong verbal and written communication. 
•    Excellent customer orientation, support, and interfacing experience with ability to persuade, convince, or influence others to take appropriate action.
•    Ability to lead and impact others at all levels of the organization.  
•    Proven success in dealing with concurrent problems and issues effectively in a dynamic, high-pressure environment. 
•    Advanced understanding of business strategy as it relates to the network environment.
•    Innovative and highly skilled professional with advanced knowledge of networking and voice technologies and services. 
•    Strong working knowledge of OSI layers 1-7, with the ability to apply analytical and troubleshooting skillsets to solve complex problems within Telecom and across IT disciplines.
•    Technical aptitude should be balanced with strong business skills that demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and professional skills, including integrity, self-motivation, adaptability, and dependability.

Familiarity with the following technologies and other related programs; Ability to learn the latest programs as needed:

Routing and Layer 3 protocols  

  • BGP, IGP, and EIGRP
  • Public BGP multi-homing topologies

WAN Technologies 

  •  MPLS
  • Load Balancer =F5 and NetScaler 
  •  Internet Redundancy with SLAs
  •  Vendors = VZB, Century Link, L3, ATT
  •   Hardware = Cisco, Arista

LAN 

  •  APIC and ACI Spine and Leaf fabric
  • Arista MLAG, VPC and VRF 
  • Nexus 9K, 7K and 2K
  • ISE 802.1x and TACACS 
  • Redundant and self-healing LAN designs
  • Vendors = Arista, Cisco

Monitoring 

  •  Net flow configuring and polling
  •  OpenConfig knowledge a plus
  •  Monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds

Traffic tools and performance testing 

  •  IXIA, iPerf

Security Engineering 

  •  Implementing requested policies, configuring advanced features, troubleshooting and tuning 
  • DUO- 2FA
  •  ADFS 
  • Vendors = Fortinet, Palo Alto, Qualys, SecureWorks, DUO

 Automation experience with Python or similar a plus
