Job Description

Who is K-zell Metals, Inc.?

K-zell Metals is a leading industrial sheet metal contract manufacturer. We are a low volume high mix company.  We strive for innovative and challenging projects that allow us to use the full capabilities of our state-of-the-art CNC equipment.

Our wide customer and product base will keep you challenged.  The products we produce range from water fixtures for swimming pools, factory built modular homes, military gas turbine support equipment, to simple welded hooks, and most things in between.

We pride ourselves on doing the work others can’t or won’t and we are proud to say ‘K-zell Metals built it’ when it ships.

As an Estimator, you’ll have the opportunity to help decide what work to bid, determine how we approach each project, and develop a plan for turning customer designs into quality finished products. You will perform material take offs and obtain current market material pricing.  Your labor take off will become the manufacturing plan for the shop.  You will be tasked to analyze the customer’s design to determine the way our equipment will be used to increase both the ease and efficiency of the manufacturing process resulting in a higher quality product.  We encourage thinking outside the box to make us more competitive.

Responsibilities

Review customer inquiries and RFQ (request for quotes) to help determine which work is worth investing the time to quote.

Create, manage, and execute the estimating schedule, setting priorities to maximize the value of our estimating.

Coordinate with the engineering & production schedules to provide our customers with accurate delivery dates.

Review customer bid documents and specifications with management, engineering, and production to make sure the company understands the job requirements and can meet all the technical and quality requirements of the project.

Create the detailed manufacturing plan with labor take off by operation and specific material requirements.

Review and update the company’s estimating standards as necessary

Be an integral member of the Company’s ISO9001 Quality Management Team

Assist in the design and fabrication of tooling such as robotic weld fixtures and inspection gages.

Present and participate in design reviews of new tooling and fabrication processes.

Participate in Project reviews both in bid and contract award stages to insure product manufacturability.

Help solve fabrication problems.

Your skills and credentials

Minimum of 5 years manufacturing and fabrication experience, with preferably 3 years of sheet metal experience

Minimum of 2 years of professional supervisory experience

Power user of Microsoft Office.

Experience with 3D CAD Software (Solidworks proficiency is a significant plus).
