Description

The HR Assistant will be responsible for providing support in functional areas of Human Resources, including but not limited to: recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, training, performance management, HRIS data entry and programming, employee relations, and employment law compliance. This position is focused primarily on transaction project needs. The HR Assistant must have very strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to maintain employee confidentiality, and ability to multitask.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Posts and maintains open positions in the applicant tracking system.
  • Supports the hiring process by assisting Department Managers in reviewing applications, screening applicants, coordinating onsite interviews, checking references, processing background checks and drug tests, etc.
  • Manages the onboarding process for new hires through the HRIS system.
  • Processes and maintains employee I-9s in accordance with company policy and federal law.
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts new hire, day one essentials and assists with new employee orientation.
  • Performs benefits administration, including occasional claims resolution, communicating benefits information, and assisting in the annual open enrollment process.
  • Processes all required employee changes through our HRIS system including: employee transfers, changes in classification, pay changes, benefit changes, and other related employment matters.
  • Communicates with payroll associate to ensure the integrity of payroll data, including new hires, terminations, transfers, and rate changes.
  • Initiates employee performance reviews in HRIS each month, notifies management of upcoming reviews, and seeks regular updates on progress from management.
  • Assists with employee related inquires.
  • Researches and resolves questions from managers and employees as they pertain to: company policies, employee benefits, employee relations, etc.
  • Assists in the implementation, administration, and enforcement of human resources policies and procedures to ensure consistency and fairness is applied across the board.
  • Assists in processing FMLA and/or leave of absence requests and tracking.
  • Assists in preparation and review of correction counseling documentation.
  • Files documents to Employee record
  • Helps to ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

  • This position requires regular, in-office attendance and is not suitable for remote work

Education and experience:

  • Associate Degree (or higher) in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and HR experience, preferred.
  • 1-2 years proven experience as an HR assistant or relevant human resources/administrative position, preferred.
  • Previous experience working at a medical facility is a plus.
  • SHRM or HRCI education and/or certification a plus.
  • Previous experience with Paylocity HRIS a preferred..

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of labor laws
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Prior experience working with HRIS
  • Strong communication skills, including the willingness to interact with all levels of the organization

Physical Requirements:

  • This position is sedentary, requires sitting for a majority of the shift
  • Requires long periods of working on a computer and requires repetitive motions such as typing and using of the mouse.
  • Requires occasional bending, reaching, lifting, walking, and squatting
  • Periodic lifting up to 20 pounds without assistance



Salary Description
$17.00- $20.50 per hour
