SUMMARY:

Regulatory Chemist is responsible for product regulatory compliance, product specifications and product formulations. This will include USA regulatory compliance, as well as working towards international documentation and registration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and develop SDS, ingredient listing for finished product.
  • Monitor project progress and achieve US and International regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrate good lab practices and regulatory compliance in product development and completing of the product dossier.
  • Manage regulatory compliance related to EU PIF/ dossiers.
  • Manages Regulatory Associate.
  • Process product registration documentation for EU/Asia/Canada/Australia/Middle East.
  • Identify and maintain updated records of compliant raw material specifications, ability to source and collaborate with RM suppliers to ensure GMP/ISO regulations and standards.
  • Support communication and regulatory documents with manufacturers on new formula development, reformulations, audits, testing (stability, compatibility, micro, RIPT and OTC).
  • Ensure label artwork regulatory for global compliance, review marketing collateral and work in translation agencies.
  • Manage and prepare documentation.
  • Prepare documents required for export registration.
  • Assist to ensure quality records to meet FDA requirements.
  • Work on new product formulation documentations.
  • Investigate and code raw materials as needed.
  • Monitor stability and notify potential problems.
  • Communicate with processing, planning, and Research and Development.
  • Manage multiple projects in positive and proactive manner.
  • Demonstrate good lab practices and regulatory compliance in product development and completing of the product dossier.
  • Maintain and update product library consisting of quantitative ingredient declaration, SDS, Product Specification Sheets (PSS), Certificate of Analysis (COA), and Technical Data Sheets.
  • Ensure label artwork regulatory for global compliance, review marketing collateral and work with translation agencies.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.
  • 3-5 years of experience in cosmetic (or other FDA) related industry (preferably in Regulatory Affairs).

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Manage multiple projects in positive and proactive manner.
  • Knowledge with international regulatory and be able to prepare documentation and communicate with international agencies.
  • Work closely to the regulatory requirement of the customer.
  • Technical writer and document editing skills, a plus.
  • Knowledge of Document Control/Batch Records/Change Control.
  • Cosmetic ingredient knowledge, INCI.
  • Broad understanding of physical and chemical properties of chemicals, OSHA/FDA/cGMP/GLP requirements.
  • Must be familiar with R&D/QC instruments.
  • Must demonstrate professional appearance and friendly demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and negotiation skills.
  • Superb leadership skills and a strong team player.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work with large product numbers.
  • Ability to work efficiently under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
