The Chief Financial Officer is a member of the Strategic Leadership Group (SLG) and serves as the finance executive of Jefferson Healthcare. The CFO has responsibility for the overall financial management of the District and provides leadership, direction and administration of finance departments, including accounting, revenue cycle operations, and materials management.

Position Summary The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a member of the Strategic Leadership Group (SLG) and serves as the finance executive of Jefferson Healthcare.

It is a key member of the executive team and integrally involved in the strategic planning and organization-wide decision making. The CFO has responsibility for the overall financial management of the District and provides leadership, direction and administration of finance departments, including accounting, revenue cycle operations, and materials management. The CFO ensures accurate, actionable information is provided for internal and external stakeholders to drive high efficiency and financial performance.

Responsible for the District's budget and forecasting process, and routine reporting of financial performance and related trends across the organization necessary to meet strategic goals. The CFO administers, directs, and monitors all hospital financial activities and keeps the hospital CEO, strategic leadership group, and Board of Commissioners informed of the financial condition of the hospital and opportunities to improve the District's financial position. Ensures department activities and outcomes are aligned with the strategic plan and the organization's mission, vision and values. This is an exempt, full time position Education and/or Experience * Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with major in accounting or equivalent required; Master's Degree in relevant field preferred * CPA license strongly preferred * Minimum of seven (7) years progressive financial leadership experience, including experience at a director level or higher * Minimum of five (5) years recent financial experience in the hospital field with both accounting and revenue cycle management, experience in hospital accounting practices, and management of fiscal departments of a hospital required * Critical Access Hospital experience strongly preferred; experience in rural health clinics or federally qualified health centers also considered * Must stay abreast of industry standards and trends Essential Functions * Designs programs and methods to meet the District's strategic goals as a member of the Strategic Leadership Group * Inspires financial accountability across the hospital * Provides proactive, sound guidance regarding management of assets and financial trends of the hospital * Supervises, either directly or through subordinate leaders, the operation of the fiscal system with full responsibility for the quality and quantity of work performed * Responsible for the operating and capital budgets, including revenue and expense budgets, cash forecasts, profit planning, and programs for capital investments and financing * Oversees an effective revenue cycle process to keep patient accounts receivable at an acceptable level and optimizing the Hospital's cash flow * Works with department leaders and patient care representatives to implement financial plans and productivity benchmarks, and to monitor progress toward financial goals * Maintains a thorough working knowledge of federal state, and other reimbursement payment methodologies, including: contractual adjustments, payment calculations, billing requirements, and compliance * Familiar with reimbursement models and Critical Access Hospital programs; keeps up to date with all federal statutes surrounding participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs * Responsible for oversight of the supply chain, including key relationships and contracts (including the group purchasing organization) * Employs a system of responsible accounting, including budget and internal controls * Designs and monitors internal controls to facilitate an unqualified audit opinion without significant audit adjustments or internal control deficiencies * Develops and ensures policies and procedures are in place and up to date * Responsible for managing direct reports, conducting performance evaluations, staff development and coaching, and performance management * Actively supports a positive workplace culture, fosters a high-performing culture and drives employee engagement.
