Jefferson Solutions, the government consulting company of Jefferson Consulting Group, a well-respected, woman-owned small business in Washington, D.C. seeks highly qualified individuals to serve as Technical Assistance - Visual Information Communications Specialist  for an upcoming opportunity in support the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Legislative and Public Affairs (LPA).  

USAID/LPA serves as the primary liaison between USAID and the American people, Congress, the media, and other key constituencies. With a portfolio of almost $8 million, LPA has overall responsibility for the entire Agency’s communications and provides overall coordination for all aspects of legislative and public affairs. In addition, LPA directs the Agency’s communication strategy and policies; is responsible for communicating positioning, messaging, and branding; develops outreach and educational programs; leads the Agency’s online marketing strategy and manages the external and internal web presences; and produces events and promotional publications and products to generate support for USAID’s mission.

The Visual Information Communications Specialist reports to the Chief of Information Communications (IC) and serves as a key member on the IC team that leads on photo, audio, and video projects, working closely with other members of the team and groups across the Agency with a particular emphasis on support to the Administrator’s office. IC requires operational and functional support to provide visual information communications Agency-wide as well as for sub-sections of the Agency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education or Master’s degree and 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Audio/Video Specialist - 3-5 years of audio/video communications experience, 1-3+ years of foreign development exposure, 3-5 years of Adobe Creative Suite or similar xperience, 3-5 years of Mac and Windows experience, 2 years of coursework in photography and audio/video production.
  • Strong skillset required in photo-taking, video-shooting and audio recording to tell foreign development oriented and staff stories.
  • Strong skillset required in full-cycle audio and video development, production and postproduction ability.

Duties

Audio and Video Projects - 50%

  • Independently coordinates the IC team’s audio and video projects portfolio including management of these projects and planning to meet the high demand of Agency customers
  • Collaborates with technical experts.
  • Writes scripts and designs storyboards.
  • Shoots, records, edits, captions and posts live audio and video.
  • Utilizes and edits stock video for relevant projects.
  • Creates animations for video projects.
  • Creates music soundtracks for audio and video projects.
  • Creates Podcasts and other audio-only projects.
  • Utilizes Adobe Creative Suite or similar for all audio and video projects.
  • Tracks the acquisition and storage of IC hardware and software.
  • Coordinates audio and video projects plus finished content within the Agency’s Digital asset management systems.

Photo Projects - 25%

  • Independently coordinates the IC team’s photo projects.
  • Coordinates digitization and archiving initiatives.
  • Tracks the acquisition and storage of IC hardware and software.
  • Collaborates with other teams and bureaus on photo projects.
  • Shoots, edits, captions and posts photos on behalf of the IC team using Adobe Creative Suite or similar.
  • Develops photo campaigns and shares content on the Agency’s social media platforms.
  • Coordinates photo projects and ensures accurate photo information is recorded within the Agency’s digital asset management systems.
Project Management and Metrics Analysis - 25%
  • Independently coordinates the entire internal portfolio of IC audio, video, and photo projects, including project planning (as assigned).
  • Collects, analyzes and reports relevant data on A/V use and A/V effectiveness from Agency consumers.
  • Coordinates the development and distribution of audio/video metrics analysis for each project and overall.
