Electrical Engineer II

Jaxon Engineering is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team.

Jaxon is a distinguished leader in Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) hardening and survivability. We evaluate and design EMP systems and facilities and deliver high quality technical services. Jaxon is the only company able to offer turnkey EMP shielding products and services to our Department of Defense and commercial customers.

The successful candidate will also be an effective team player; possess an ability to work in a team of other engineers; be able to interface and communicate effectively with staff, customers, program management and corporate leadership.

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a Dept. of Defense Secret and/or Top Secret security clearance

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000, plus bonus eligibility

Primary Duties

• Provide technical execution and oversight of multiple R&D, production, and customer projects
• Engineer, design, program and test control systems for transportable HEMP shelters to include human-machine (HMI) interfaces.
• Engineer, design, program and test custom control systems for HEMP hardened fixed facilities.
• Integrate control systems with existing building management systems for HEMP hardened facilities.
• Engineer, design, and fabricate custom electronic devices for inclusion in control systems and HEMP protection systems based on unique customer requirements.
• Serve as technical subject matter expert for those projects for internal managers and external clients
• Lead HEMP (High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse) test teams in both laboratory and field settings
• Direct electronic test technicians with lab testing and product fabrication
• Write/review technical documents, engineering plans and deliverables
• Take a design proposal from start to finish; design requirements, design, BOM creation, material procurement, oversight of fabrication and testing, etc.
• Responsible for research, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with engineering, manufacturing, and production to ensure that designs meet requirements.

• BS degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering
• 3-6 years’ engineering experience
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Experienced with independently evaluating, selecting, adapting, and modifying standard techniques and criteria in order to plan and conduct engineering assignments.
• Experience with designing, programming and testing programmable logic controller (PLC)-based control systems to include HMI.
• Familiarity with BACnet-based building management systems (BMS). Familiarity with integrating BMS with MODBUS PLC control systems is a plus.
• Demonstrated project development and leadership skills for planning and overseeing project tests
• Strong detail orientation, and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated and able to work in a dynamic team environment with both collocated and geographically dispersed team members with varying experience levels
• Strong written and oral communication skills for coordination & reporting work
• Proficient in using Microsoft office, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Able to sustain a 20% travel schedule
• Current possession of an active Dept. of Defense SECRET security clearance (with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET clearance) is a strong plus
