Job Summary

The Senior Actuarial Analyst will provide research, analysis, and insights to support various Actuarial department functions.  This incumbent will be a key resource in the coordination, oversight, and follow up on pricing, reserving and underwriting division review processes. The incumbent will also respond to requests from internal stakeholders for data extraction, analysis and reporting needs.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Continuously exhibit and uphold Core Values of Integrity, Accountability, Communication and Teamwork, Innovation and Customer Service
  • Oversee and organize pricing and loss rating support to underwriting divisions
  • Produce and/or provide reviews for annual program reviews for all property and casualty divisions, including following up on recommendations
  • Perform management reporting and portfolio management functions
  • Assist with development and maintenance of pricing and/or reserving tools
  • Utilize various modeling tools 
  • Monitor changes to aggregate pricing levels and profitability through periodic analyses
  • Prepare special reports, data compilations, analysis of Company and industry experience, as well as other ad hoc analysis requests
  • Provide reserving support to Actuarial team

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive actuarial pricing and reserving skills
  • Modeling skills
  • Proficiency using databases (SQL & Access)
  • Ability to develop complex SQL queries
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to organize complex information and pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to work successfully as an individual contributor and in a team environment
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight travel 

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field  
  • Minimum of four years of actuarial experience in the insurance industry, preferably commercial P&C lines
  • Successful completion of three or more Casualty Actuarial Society exams
