Primary Purpose of Position:
Responsible for applying the principles of engineering and industrial processes to solve technical problems in plastics processing development, manufacturing, construction, inspection, and maintenance. Provide input and support to technical team through experience and expertise in machinery and equipment field, to include: maintenance, automation, machining, tooling, rigging and plant utilities. Duties includes assisting Process Engineers to develop more robust processing systems, application of practical technical solutions, development and execution of DOEs, as well as leading equipment installations, upgrades and troubleshooting.


Essential Responsibilities:
* Participates in technical team to establish and execute goals and achieve critical milestones.
* Works comfortably within a team and independently to execute planned tasks.
* Plan, execute and lead focused design and build efforts, both participating in and directing the work of internal resources and coordinating assistance from professional contractors.
* Assists in development of PM programs, maintenance procedures, and operational procedures.
* Responsible for reporting any problems or concerns to direct Supervisor. Must maintain good working relations with all other employees, promoting a conflict free environment.
* Encouraged to bring any ideas to light for possible usage in factory functions.
* Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
* Supports and leads all safety directives, posing no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, others, or to property. Observes plant safety rules.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Higher Education or technical school is preferred but not required

Experience/Knowledge

* Extensive knowledge of Industrial Maintenance, mechanical systems, tooling systems, and troubleshooting
* Working or practical knowledge of administrative and management functions, to include: planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, equipment applications, process flow techniques, and state and federal health, environmental and safety rules and regulations.
* At least 3 years of experience, education, and or training in this field or in a closely related area.
* Working knowledge in use of computerized systems, robot systems, PLCs, and HMIs.
* Thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical workings of a variety of production machinery applications and interaction.
* Read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
Proficiency in Microsoft office required. AutoCAD and or SolidWorks are beneficial

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
* 3 Years or more experience within the plastics industry.
* Project management, development initiatives, and support experience
* Must be proficient in understanding of manuals, work instructions and mechanical drawings / blueprints, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and flow charts.
* Must have capable working knowledge of tools, dies, molds, their materials of construction, as well as fits interference and clearance, tolerances and stack-up tolerances.
* Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting/diagnosing of machine-driven problems during new equipment builds, startups, repairs, and trials.
* Ability to analyze problems make independent judgments and to make recommendations for corrective action or resolution.
* Ability to utilize various computer types within a LAN environment, including spreadsheet, word processing, database, graphics software, and cad systems.
* Ability to perform minor machining, mills, lathes, etc., as well as have working knowledge of all types of machining.
* This is a hands-on position requiring a demonstrated ability to collaborate, display diplomacy in daily interactions, communicating necessary direction and commitment to tasks at hand with recognition of urgency and supporting resource capabilities.
* Ability to prioritize projects with flexibility to manage interruptions and reprioritize as necessary.
