Summary:

  • The Controls Project Engineer directs all aspects of controls engineering activities for the site.
  • This role holds oversight for all automation, robotics, electrical, and project engineering activities for large-scale, upgrades and new installations.
  • This leader will foster innovation and execute strategies to meet objectives, ensure reliability and exceed customer expectations for large capital projects.
  • The ability to contribute to, understand and communicate the overall corporate strategies and objectives and how the engineering function drives this strategy will be critical.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Engineer on capital controls projects - overall project management, budget, schedule management, start-up, conceptual phases, and project completion
  • Lead system design standards development for divisional unit operations. Includes improvements to existing standards using appropriate technical evaluation and involvement.
  • Maintain engineering interface with business unit team - maintain close working relationship with R&D, quality, manufacturing, operations leadership, and financial operations.
  • Offer production support and troubleshooting assistance to Maintenance.
  • Provide innovative technical solutions required to meet business objectives with emphasis on productivity.
  • Provide support to annual capital planning process, which may include development and management of the capital program for an operating department
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement tools to Early Management, Specialized Maintenance, Autonomous Maintenance, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Induced Failure Testing, and support CI and Phase Progression efforts

Requirements:

  • BS/AS is required, ideally in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related education / certifications is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of project engineering / Controls Engineering experience, with a focus on electrical PLC automation background
  • Advanced skills with PLC systems, PLC programming, instrumentation, and demonstrate PLC system troubleshooting skills
  • Must have experience with the following systems or closely related: FactoryTalk, rsLogix, Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office, CTI, Texan Instruments, Allen-Bradley Controllers, IO devices, Networks, HMIs, Panelview, Ethernet/IP, ControlNet.
  • Functional excellence and demonstrated subject matter expertise in packaging, processing, project management and LSS/TPM with a strong emphasis in food processing, consumer products, FMCPG and high-speed packaging environments
  • Proven project management leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects; prefer start-up or greenfield experience
  • Able to manage and track project scope, schedule, and spending
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills with an ability to work with vendors, contractors, and consultants
  • Able to make independent and sound decisions
  • Computer skills include familiarity with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS project CAD and SAP
  • The ideal candidate must be a motivated, self-starter with good people and be a problem solver
