Job Overview:

The IT Training Specialist is responsible for delivering online and classroom-based training designed to instill the Customers vision, mission, and values at critical junctures throughout their careers or provide training that gives knowledge and skills essential to performing for the Customer. The Customer requires facilitation and classroom management skills that will enable the Contractor to deliver instruction and develop new curricula or modifying existing programs or modules to reflect current developments in a field of scholarship relevant to the Customer.

  • The position will design and deliver training to address gaps in skills or knowledge of Customer applications.
  • The position will tailor instructional systems design processes and provide solutions-based approaches in training.
  • The position will use computer software, Internet, and other enterprise-wide tools for research, course development, and course delivery.
  • The position will use enterprise-wide toolset for computer-mediated training.
  • The position will manage and organize online content using tools such as SharePoint and Microsoft Office, so that students can easily retrieve it later.
  • The position will conduct and lead needs and task analyses using a variety of techniques, including quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • The position will partner with customers to ensure program quality and relevance.
  • The position will apply a variety of presentation and elicitation techniques to deliver a course, or segments of a course.
  • The position will process classroom experiences using tools such as surveys and hands-on exercises to gain feedback and to ensure that learning points are made and students are able to apply the learning to the job.
  • The position will coordinate training classes, including the scheduling of instructors, facilities, and materials.
  • The position will assist in the procurement of materials for delivery of training programs or activities.
  • The position will update course materials to reflect current developments in relevant subject matters and consult with senior instructors to determine appropriate teaching techniques and documentation.
  • The position will provide guidance on modifying activities and procedures depending on the dynamics of each class and uses individual differences to enrich the classroom environment such as instructor teams and class participants.
  • The position will, with the help of a professional instructional designer, create training experiences that contain relevant subject-matter expertise, incorporates a variety of instructional techniques appropriate for adult learners, and has measurable learning objectives.
  • The position will maintain professional skills and subject-matter expertise through continual study and research and through involvement in professional organizations and network of contacts that facilitates the identification of relevant expertise internal or external to the Customer.
  • The position will initiate and broaden liaison relationships with professional or academic organizations to remain current in specific expertise and with industry best practices.
  • The position will serve as a senior representative at internal events or other relevant events and displays an understanding of the Customers strategic vision and objectives.
  • The position will provide training services including the analysis of training requirements, the creation and maintenance of training plans, the preparation of training materials, the development of Computer Based Training (CBT), and the delivery of training courses for system administrators and operators across multiple environments. 
  • The position will provide these training services within the WMA and remotely via Video Teleconference (VTC). 

Required skills and demonstrated experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in adult learning and classroom instructions
  • Demonstrated experience with managing training priorities, programs, and issues in order to adapt training programs to reflect changes in structure, regulations, or processes
  • Demonstrated experience with varied training schedules and the ability to be adaptable and flexible when it comes to the timing
  • Demonstrated experience working with back-end computer developer team
  • Demonstrated experience managing group processes and eliciting student participation
  • Demonstrated experience applying structured analysis methods to various types of data to establish trends, determine variability, and diagnose the effect on training curricula
  • Bachelors degree in subject-matter field relevant to the Customer or advanced degree in education-related field
  • Demonstrated experience with project management concepts and principles

Highly desired, though not required, include:

  • Demonstrated experience with SQL/ICQL programming
  • Demonstrated experience with Boolean Logic and other computer programming
  • Demonstrated experience with oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working independently
  • Certifications:
    • SharePoint Administrator
    • SharePoint Application Developer


US Citizenship:

  • This position requires US Citizenship. Verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements will be confirmed.

Security Clearance:

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.


  • This position is expected to be onsite. The position will be located within the Washington Metropolitan Area (WMA). 
  • Local travel by privately owned vehicle will be on an as needed basis, within the local place of performance.
  • Temporary Duty travel will be within the Continental United States (CONUS), as requested and approved by the Customer.
  • Temporary Duty travel will be outside the Continental United States (OCONUS), as requested and approved by the Customer.
