Material Handler/Class A CDL Back-up Driver - 1st Shift Local Driving Only

$20/hr+ based on experience

*$1000 Sign-On Bonus

Hours: 6AM-2:30PM M-F, home evenings and weekends with the family!

Route: Moves material between our 4 facilities in East Peoria, IL and other local out/back trips

This newest line is housed in our newly added 4th East Peoria facility, helping us showcase this innovative line to our customers. We can service almost any material movement need and work with some of the biggest companies in the world including Tesla, Rivian, Space X, Meta, Caterpillar, and many more.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
  • Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure
  • Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment
  • Inspect product load for accuracy and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery
  • Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers or mark the with identifying information
  • Sort materials before moving
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles or auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing LP tank
  • Keep the assigned work station swept and cleaned as necessary, keep clutter and trip hazards out of work areas
  • Use PPE, per training, as required for the specific task being performed
  • Other jobs and/or duties as directed by Supervisor or Operations Manager

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience
    • Requires commercial driver's license (CDL Class A)
    • 1-2 years CDL Class A professional driving experience, 2+ years preferred
    • Must be able to operate a 10-speed manual transmission
    • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate), preferred (not required)
    • 1-2 years fork lift experience

Physical requirements

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 lb parts or fixtures.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and reach overhead to assemble and/or move products.
  • Must be able to stand and work on your feet for an entire shift
