Software Development Manager

Reporting to the VP of Software Development, the Software Development Manager will lead a modern, innovative UX software development team by taking over our current functions, incorporating best practices, and upgrading our practices by integrating them with our new QA and Product Management functions. You will lead the development of new features and improvements to the current platform ensuring that the quality standards of Invoice Cloud are met on each new product & product enhancement. You will take over a team of 8 to coach, mentor, and grow as Invoice Cloud continues to scale and develop new products and verticals.

Gain a basic understanding of the Invoice Cloud platform, value proposition, and how the pieces come together

Gain an understanding of the Invoice Cloud organizational structure, business processes, and procedures

Begin working closely with VP of Software Development to understand current platform functionality and development practices

First 60 days

  • Gain an understanding of existing projects in development and expectations that fall on manager
  • Gain a technical understanding of core software systems that make up the Invoice Cloud platform and how they are interconnected
  • Gain a technical understanding of core software design principles applied to existing and upcoming Invoice Cloud software systems
  • Gain a technical understanding of current implementations of application performance monitoring systems
  • Gain a technical understanding of current incident procedures
  • Gain a technical understanding of existing CI/CD methods
  • Gain a technical understanding of work item branching strategies
  • Gain a technical understanding of software development life cycle in our ecosystem

First 90 days

  • Meet with UX Leads on a consistent basis to gather updates on existing projects and make recommendations on software design to ensure scalable systems, efficient workflows, and improved timelines
  • Participate in Engineering scoping process when projects are handed to Engineering
  • Participate in meetings with QA manager to understand recommended software design approaches to allow better testing
  • Participate in meetings with Product manager to understand gaps in transparency between teams, and how we can improve workflows
  • Participate in Engineering management meetings and express insightful perspective based on experience

Ongoing

  • Participate in Product / Engineering scoping meetings
  • Develop a project management approach to report progress on projects to management
  • Develop a project estimation approach that provides achievable timelines for incoming projects
  • Develop a project handoff approach that provides all requirements QA team needs to test
  • Become proficient in Invoice Cloud’s current software engineering and design practices
  • Oversee, plan, and scope Product-provided platform projects
  • Mentor UX and software development teams with strong leadership, experience, and communications skills
  • Make recommendations and implement agreed upon process improvements
  • Assess competencies, weaknesses, and strengths of the software development teams
  • Uses professional knowledge, experience and technical expertise to respond to questions, facilitate problem-solving, and generally advise, influence and provide guidance to developers
  • Participate and improves system monitoring procedures
  • Able to assist in all areas as requested by Engineering management team.

Seeking a Software Development Manager with these previous experiences and capabilities

Experience turning creative mockups into .NET software applications

Strong understanding of the software development life cycle

Strong understanding of complex concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices

Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to achieve results as part of an effective team, and ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task under deadlines.

10+ years' experience using web technologies, including, but not limited to:

  • 10+ years’ experience using Microsoft technologies, including, but not limited to:

  • ADO.NET
  • WPF
  • WinForms
  • T-SQL
  • Team Foundation Server / VSTS

Excellent testing and debugging skills

Experience managing a team of 5+ developers

Ability to analyze data and create and review processes

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

You have a point-of-view and can effectively present your vision and defend your designs

Bachelor's degree in a computer field
