Joining Intuitive Surgical means joining a team dedicated to using technology to benefit patients by improving surgical efficacy and decreasing surgical invasiveness, with patient safety as our highest priority. Primary Function of Position: The Clinical Development Training Manager uses their in-depth knowledge of the da Vinci Surgical Systems, surgical procedures, design control, and risk assessment to mentor, train and develop new CDE Team members, as well as integrating CDE Team members into other training programs within and outside Intuitive. Program Pillars: Leadership, Communication, Task Overlap, Alignment, and Standardization.
Position Responsibilities: Collaborate with CDE leadership to identify CDE core competencies. Partner with CDE leadership and Intuitive learning groups to develop a standardized onboarding curriculum leading to successful core competency development. Create and update new employee Integration Plans for new teammates through collaboration with CDE leadership.
Work closely with the Professional Education & Program Services organization to leverage and evolve technology training programs across groups. Coordinate and/or conduct training labs in the form of: Dry labs, excised tissue studies, necropsy labs, pre-clinical animal studies and cadaveric studies. Train new hires on CDE best practices for product use, pre-clinical lab involvement, and case observations.
Perform assessments of clinical capability for CDE's to determine readiness for CDE's to become independent. Facilitate the ongoing development of product knowledge and competency through case observation programs, pre-clinical lab participation, advanced surgeon lab attendance, and conference attendance. Provide coaching and mentorship to new CDE Team members and other members of shared services organizations throughout the onboarding process.
Provide new team members with exposure to other organizations within Intuitive to understand the relationship between CDE and our strategic partners. Skills / Job Requirements: Minimum BS degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering and 3 to 5 years of experience within Intuitive Surgical preferred. Coaching Skills- demonstrated ability to develop competence in others through structured learning experience and feedback strategies.
An experienced leader who is a consistent high performer, a continual learner and leads with emotional intelligence Master Complexity- demonstrated organizational skills and flexibility within role to handle complex and changing environments. Must be fluent in surgical terminology and have sound knowledge of anatomy/surgery Need strong mechanical aptitude with thorough spatial cognition and understanding of 3D orthogonal mechanics as they relate to robotic/laparoscopic surgery Scrub experience a plus Experience working with surgeons and their teams in an operating room environment and proven clinical credibility Training Ability- demonstrated commitment to peer training, specifically related to advanced technology within a clinical environment Excellent communication (written, verbal), presentation and documentation skills Strong project management, planning, decision making, negotiating and change management skills Ability to travel up to 20%.
