Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Director of Marketing is responsible for designing, refining and executing marketing strategy related to LIGHTFAIR International, the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show. The Director of Marketing will require a balance of high-level strategic thinking to help us reach our goals and hands-on execution of marketing plans.


  • Develop, implement and manage short and long-term strategic and tactical action plans for all of LIGHTFAIR International’s marketing initiatives to include traditional and digital, events and social media

  • Develop and execute media plans for Market advertising in industry publications and maintain budget

  • Write creative briefs and direct external agencies to develop effective marketing materials

  • Stay up to date on new social media trends and platforms

  • Provide insight/input into database targets and segmentation based on business. Will include but not be limited to reporting on the status of prioritized marketing and communication activities.

  • Coordinate and implement digital marketing best practices

  • Implement SEM campaigns including paid programs, social media campaigns and SEO

  • Grow LFI’s online presence via digital activity in paid and free channels

  • Oversee digital analytics/campaign tracking to monitor benchmarks, track success and refine campaigns for website, mobile, social media and content

  • Create performance reports for the Senior Vice President and other key stakeholders, measures of success in earned, owned and paid digital media

  • Communicate new features and best practices for use of third-party vendor applications such as registration, mobile app, exhibitor invitation programs and peer-to-peer invitations

  • Responsible for maintaining IMC and LIGHTFAIR International brand standards, voice and image on all communication efforts

  • Manage Content Marketing Manager

  • React to change productively and perform other essential functions as assigned


  • We seek a team player with outstanding analytical, interpersonal and project management skills

  • Significant experience in traditional and digital marketing and communications, growing a brand’s presence, traffic and sales/conversions as well as tracking ROI

  • Trade show marketing experience and ability to adapt quickly to different business verticals

  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms, especially LinkedIn Ads, Facebook Ads, Twitter Ads, and YouTube, with a strong sense of different community behavior’s and experience using social media to drive ROI and business goals

  • Google Adwords Certification

  • Experience of digital media buying and remarketing tactics

  • Adept at quickly learning a broad array of technologies and applying that knowledge to real world business problems

  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform and deliver results

  • A proven success in a high growth, rapidly changing environment

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously


  • Bachelors of Business Administration/Bachelors of Science preferred

  • 8-10 years of progressive multichannel trade show marketing experience (combination of both agency and client-side experience preferred)


  • MS Office Products, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Social Media expertise

  • Hubspot or comparable email platform expertise

  • Creative abilities with “an eye” for layout and photography preferred
