Job Description: Executive DirectorAbout ACG San FranciscoFor over 45 years ACG San Francisco has been the single-most comprehensive and efficient networking platform for the middle market deal-making community including private capital providers (Private Equity, Independent Sponsors, Family Offices & Lenders), Investment Bankers, M&A advisors, corporate executives, accountants, attorneys and other related transactional advisors in Northern California. ACG San Francisco hosts more than 20 events annually attended by hundreds of industry professionals. The San Francisco chapter is over 300 members strong, and is one of the largest ACG chapters. Membership is comprised of approximately 25% investment banks, 25% private equity firms, and 50% transactional advisors in the global community of middle-market M&A dealmakers and business leaders focused on driving growth and creating value.ACG San Francisco is part of the Association for Corporate Growth, which stands at 15,000 members from corporations, private equity, finance and professional service firms representing Fortune 500, Fortune 1000, FTSE 100, and mid-market companies in 52 chapters throughout the world. Our members belong to ACG to be part of an influential community of leaders growing public and private companies worldwide.What You’ll Do:As the Executive Director for ACG San Francisco, you will serve at the direction of the ACG San Francisco Board, the chapter’s president, and the ACG West Region CEO. You will be expected to manage the day-to-day operations of ACG San Francisco, and will have lead responsibility for overseeing its administration and programs, while implementing the strategic plan of the Chapter.Ideally, we are most interested in individuals coming with the following key core competencies:Directors of Business Development Program Management/Event Planning Project Management Experience working with boards of directors, partners, and other senior leadership as a guide/internal collaboration partner Financial acumen - has a good baseline understanding You Should Have:Prior experience in Financial or Trade Associations, Alumni Associations, not-for-profits related to financial communities; event planning organizations, OR a Professional Services provider, Commercial Banking, Investment Banking/Private Equity, Financial Services, Consulting organization in a senior/strategic Marketing/Business Development capacity. Experience with client-facing opportunities in a sales or business development capacity, for example Client Relationship Managers/VP, Directors, Marketing, Business Development, Partnership or Channel Development. Highly effective in collaborating with a diverse group of constituencies. An ability to join with others in constructively managing, creating, and facilitating world-class programs while continuing to build upon membership experience. Strong “customer service” orientation. Down to earth, collaborative, and have a true passion for being part of a team that is executing in a high-growth organization. Entrepreneurial, innovative, maybe even “disruptive” perspective as to how ACG SF can build and improve on what has previously been done and how it can keep the organization up to date with how younger professionals network. Must be able to answer how we can build upon membership experience and value creation to take it to the next level. Ability to effectively and credibly communicate key ACG value propositions, milestones, and principles. The individual we seek will derive significant satisfaction from developing and executing programs and events that drive significant value to the membership. Additionally, you should bring skills with specific emphasis in the following areas: A minimum of at least 8-10 years plus of relevant experience evidencing ACG SF’s key selection criteria.Undergraduate degree (an MBA or equivalent advanced degree would be a strong plus); must have strong financial acumen.Executive level presence, experience, and demeanor. Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation. Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers. Your responsibilities as the Executive Director will include:Board Administration and Support Support operations and administration of the Board and its committees. Prioritize the day-to-day management and back office support of the organization including being the primary point of contact with any paid staff or external contractors. Collaborate with the President in interfacing between the Board and ACG HQ. Actively communicate, participate, facilitate and support the committees, Board meetings and discussions.Ensure smooth annual transition of new Board members. Financial Management and Chapter profitability (excluding the M&A Conference) Manage and project performance on chapter events which are directly under the control of the Executive Director such as the sponsor only wine or beer event, and events that are within control of the program chairs. Work with President and ACG HQ to prudently manage the organization’s resources within budget guidelines. Program, Product and Service Delivery In collaboration with the Board and Committee Chairs, oversee marketing, promotion, delivery of programs, products and services, in collaboration with ACG HQ.In collaboration with the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs, implement new programs, strategic directions, and organizational plans; continually seek to improve on the quality and effectiveness of current programs to ensure that the Chapter’s long-range strategy and mission are achieved. Ensure that the organization delivers the highest level of value to its members. Facilitate the planning and execution of all Programs/Events that the respective Program/Chair does not cover, such as the logistics and marketing of events (in conjunction with third-party event organizers and/or ACG HQ). This will require an ability to work well with different personalities.Maintain strong relationships with key vendors and partners of the Chapter, including the M&A conference to obtain premier pricing and vigorous competitive bids for Program/Event venues.Support the Chapter Committee heads in executing high quality Programs/Events. Develop opportunities to enhance the member experience at Programs/Events. Member Relations Network with Members and prospective Members to publicize, promote and actualize the Chapter’s goals and values at Chapter events.Facilitate new and existing membership outreach, cheerleading and follow up, particularly at Programs/Events.Respond in a timely manner to member information requests and questions. Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and engages a membership of quality people. Follow the highest ethical standards, ensure accountability, and comply with all applicable laws. Provide leadership and coordinated support for the Chapter Sponsorship revenue goals Identify new sponsors and/or industry categories that have not traditionally been Chapter sponsors; expand the financial community sponsorship support for the Chapter. Retain existing sponsors identified by Sponsorship Committee chair. Assist Sponsorship Committee chair and/or other Board members to secure already identified opportunities. MarketingExecute marketing initiatives designed to support ACG San Francisco’s marketing objectives, from membership recruitment/retention to event registration. Partner and collaborate with the ACG HQ team and ACG West CEO to supplement and customize company-wide marketing programs and materials/assets at the regional and local level.Work closely with ACG HQ internal centralized teams, ACG West CEO, and local freelancers to execute digital marketing promotions primarily through social media, email, and web display.Ensure successful campaign management from creation through execution, working with internal teams to monitor and optimize campaigns as needed.Create and strictly adhere to comprehensive campaign timelines, ensuring that each element of the program is executed on time without sacrificing quality.Work with local freelancers, internal stakeholders and ACG partners to ensure campaigns achieve pre-determined objectives, while garnering the necessary approvals before launch.Utilize 3rd party data, where appropriate, for segmentation and targeting efforts.What’s In It For You:ACG values our employees’ time and efforts.
