Payroll and Accounting Specialist

Insero Talent Solutions has partnered with a leading electromechanical manufacturer and distributor in the Rochester, NY area to recruit a Payroll and Accounting Specialist.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a talented and professional Payroll and Accounting Specialist to process and manage the company’s payroll and assist with general accounting as it relates to payroll and general ledger accounting practices. This position will report to our Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Compile hours worked for each employee utilizing electronic timekeeping system
• Prepare and execute weekly and/or semi-monthly payroll through ADP Workforce Now
• Process special or out of cycle payrolls when needed
• Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and internal departments
• Prepare reports for upper management, finance, and HR when needed
• General Ledger postings associated with payroll and other general journal entries
• Month end account reconciliations
• Assist in entering payables, as necessary
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax filings
• Assist with new vendor set up
• Assist with weekly cash disbursements
• Compilation of various daily, weekly, and monthly reports



Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience processing a multi-state payroll
• Experience working in an accounting department is preferred
• ADP Workforce Now experience preferred
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
• Experience with compliance and regulation related to payroll processing
• Experience with month and year end requirements as it relates to payroll and general accounting
• Proficient in MS Office and advanced Excel skills
• General understanding and exposure to GL systems
• Trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality
