New Horizon Treatment Services, a rapidly growing substance abuse and dependency recovery organization based in Trenton, NJ since 1984, is seeking a Full-Time Director of Nursing. The company is a fully equipped medical and counseling addiction treatment agency. We are focused on providing quality care to those in the area who are suffering from addiction and in need of assistance. New Horizon Treatment Services is an affiliate of Inperium Management Services, Inc.

The primary purpose of the Director of Nursing is to provide administrative oversight of the facility's nursing services, and where appropriate, directly supervising the facility's nursing staff.  He/she is also responsible for the direction, provision and quality of nursing services provided to clients in an opioid treatment program or a facility providing detoxification services and ensuring that the client treatment plan addresses both the client's substance abuse and mental health disorders.

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB AND ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
  • Direct Duties:
  • The Director of Nursing services shall be responsible for the direction, provision and quality of nursing services provided to clients, including the following:
  • Providing administrative oversight of the facility's nursing services, and where appropriate, directly supervising the facility's nursing staff;
  • Assisting the administrator of the facility in the development and maintenance of written objectives, policies and procedures, an organizational plan, and a quality assurance program for nursing services, and reviewing all nursing policies and procedures at least annually;
  • In conjunction with the administrator and the governing authority of the program, planning and budgeting for nursing services;
  • Ensuring the coordination and integration of nursing services with other client care services to ensure continuity of care for each client;
  • Ensuring that the program complies with required nursing staffing patterns;
  • Assisting in the development of written job descriptions for the nursing staff, and assigning duties of the nursing staff;
  • Participating in staff orientation and staff education activities, when applicable; and
  • Participating in team conferences with the multidisciplinary team, and the client care committee (if the facility chooses to establish a client care committee).
  • Proper safe guards of methadone accountability.
  • Maintains proper client confidentiality.
  • Assures client compliance with agency policies relating to methadone medication.
  • Works with physician in providing medical services to patients and staff, including physicals, medical consultations, etc.
  • Organizes the Nursing Service Program in accord with standards of the Agency as formulated to adhere to the principles of accreditation prescribed by the Federal Drug Administration.
  • Participates in the improvement of patient care.
  • Recruit and train Nursing Personnel.
  • Coordinate Physicians schedules and activities.
  • Coordinate with Clinical and Special Services as needed.
  • Ensure that the client treatment plan addresses both the client's substance abuse and mental health disorders.
  • The director of nursing services or designee shall be on premises during normal business hours and whenever medications are being administered.
  • Other Responsibilities:
  • Assures proper handling of all medical waste
  • Assists with other professionally recognized such as medical emergencies
  • Acts as medical resource person for other staff
  • Acts as medical liaison with outside agencies
  • Performs Other Duties as Needed
  1. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Licensed by the State of New Jersey as a Registered Nurse
  • Two (2) years in a Registered Nursing capacity
  • Two (2) years in Human Services or related field
    • At least one year of supervisory experience or three years of experience in a substance abuse treatment program or facility
    • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills
    • Excellent ability to work with clients with substance abuse and mental health disorders
    • Ability to train and evaluate multiple level support staff
    • Excellent writing skills and record keeping skills
    • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge of medical conditions, psychiatric conditions, and medications
    • Preferred Education
      • BSN

    • Maintain and abides by OSHA requirements and guidelines
    • Observes all Fire and Safety Policies and Procedures
    • Observes all Personnel Policies and Procedures
    • Observes all Residential Policies and Procedures
    • Observes all NJDOH-DMHAS, CARF and NJSAMS Regulations.
    • Observes all HIPAA Policies and Procedures and maintains confidentiality
    • Completes and returns all paperwork distributed by the Human Resource Department
    • Attends all required and scheduled trainings and meetings
    • Always maintain a professional demeanor and exercise good professional judgment in all areas of employment duties
    • Documents time worked accurately
