Job Description

Assess and administer long-term security and control issues relating to computer-based information systems. Develop and implement short and long range overall computer security goals and objectives. Develop specific information systems computer security policies and standards, and assist with security training. Oversee security procedures and supervise global security update process performed by security analysts. Oversee the development of disaster recovery plan. Collaborate with security specialist to establish, document, implement and test network and computer system security measures. Perform security testing and implement software suitable for conducting such tests with COTS and/or custom built applications), as well as document test results. Team leadership, maintenance and deployment of Firewalls, Intrusion Detection System, Virus protection and policies/procedures/reports, product assessments and general problem resolution.

Job Duties:

The Lead Network Security Engineer will lead, or support assigned capabilities within Information Security with the focus on Securing Perimeter, Cloud, Automation and Manufacturing Systems. The Network Security Engineer will work with various partners at all levels internally to our client in a manner aligned with corporate values to define and implement Information Security Services strategies, standards, tools, and processes.
This team member will work jointly with other teams to implement technologies, processes, and other improvements in assigned Information Security capabilities. This will also include participation in on-call activities.  This engineer will play a key role in designing, deploying, and maintaining solutions to build our rapidly growing 24/7 global operations.
Tasks to be performed include:
a. Management and implementation of physical (Cisco as well as Fortigate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager) as well as AWS-based firewalls, proxies, VPN concentrators, F5 load balancers and related network protection technologies.
b. Develops, implements, and sustains network operating rules, objects, and flows across a complex, global enterprise.
c. Collaborates with analysts, engineers, data scientists to deliver continuous improvement in cyber defense/resilience.
d. Work with and provide guidance to Security Operations and other Information Security team activities on security strategies, processes, response, and technologies
e. Provide support to Incident Response on security incidents including mock security incident exercises
f. Critically analyzes network infrastructure to find opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce the threat profile
g. Provide mentorship and training on areas of expertise to Information Security and other internal teams
h. Participate in audits covering network security services and technologies
i. Participate in proactive research and provide recommendations for continuous improvement on information security technologies, processes, and services
j. Participate in on-call coverage and perform effective escalation of problems and issues
k. Network Security Engineers will also present project status reports to senior management, adhere to policies and practices relative to technical guidelines and change management processes, and may contribute to the development of new policies and practices by suggesting innovative ideas
l. Work closely with business and application owners on design, troubleshooting, support, and documentation of new application deployment and enhancements
m. Architect, engineer, and troubleshoot Fortinet firewalls and services
n. Engineer/Support Retail and Corporate buildings/floors
o. Engineer application and network designs to ensure compliance with corporate security policies and security best practices
p. Attend planning meetings, including Discovery/Discovery Results/Architecture Council and provide suggestions on design.
q. Provide technical expertise in business initiatives and projects
r. Manage and lead internal IT initiatives and projects from other groups
s. Participate in on call rotation
t. Create end-to-end project tasks and expect to be accountable for entire project completion
u. Configure and install network and security related hardware and software
v. Perform scheduled and emergency network maintenance
w. Manage and maintain network and security documentation through collaborative applications
x. Work with application owners on troubleshooting issues, even though it may not be network related issue
y. Troubleshoot network and provide Post Incident Writeup (PIR) and present to management
z. Provide strong customer service and facilitate collaboration between project teams and clients.
aa. Proactively identify, isolate, and resolve network problems to avoid minimal impact to the business
bb. Perform internal audits and reviews to ensure compliance with all security policies and procedures which includes internal penetration and vulnerability scans
cc. Evaluate new and emerging network security trends, products, and technologies

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree + 2 – 5 years’ experience

Bachelor’s degree; 6 years of field related experience may be substituted for Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Network and Security certifications desired.
