Ingleside at King Farm (IKF,) located in Rockville Maryland, is a not-for-profit, continuing care retirement community central to the award-winning inter-generational King Farm community. IKF consists of 368 Independent living apartments, 32 Assisted Living Apartments, 32 Memory Support Assisted Living Apartments and 45 Skilled Nursing beds.

Ingleside at King Farm is looking to hire our Community Engagement Manager for our Independent Living and Healthcare residents.

Position Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing social, educational, recreational, and vocational activities that enhance the life of the resident. Other duties include writing and creating monthly resident calendars and newsletters, driving the success for the organization's social accountability requirements, leading the ARISE award program with the Senior Leadership Team and partnering with the IL Administrator in achieving operational success

Position Requirements:

One (1) to three (3) years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Incumbent should be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form, possess high-quality verbal and written communication ability, strong ability in planning and interpersonal, logistical and organizational skills. Must be proficient in the operation of computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Publisher, various office machines including multi-line telephone, calculator, copying machine, fax, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and Manage all aspects of Community Engagement
  • Manage resident's community services
  • Partner with IL Administrator to manage the Concierge services
  • Partner with the IL Administrator to manage the Manager of Duty Program
  • Manage the Volunteer Program with both internal resident volunteers and external volunteers
  • Manage the Social Accountability calendar for the Community
  • Oversee departmental policy and procedure writing and annual review
  • Participate in the Senior Leadership Responsibilities; e.g. MOD, Stand Up Leader, CARF-CCAC, Operations planning and Reporting
  • Fulfill Senior Leadership Team Purpose
  • Demonstrate Ingleside Core Values at all times: Accountability, Respect, Innovation, Stewardship and Excellence
  • Manage the Ingleside monthly ARISE award nominations, presentations, and winner
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Lead Community Services for Residents:

  • Direct and Manage information and assistance to residents regarding the Ingleside Community, services, transportation and assist with questions and needs.
  • Act as a liaison for the front desk and cover the services while relieving the staff for lunch as needed
  • Support IL Administrator when absent with the supervision for Concierge staff to include training, annual reviews and payroll
  • Participate in developing recommendations on improvements to Concierge services

Leader of Volunteer Services:

  • Develop and expand Ingleside volunteer program
  • Coordinate programming with existing resident Volunteer Committee
  • Recruit, screen, manage, train, coordinate and support volunteers.
  • Manage and ensure the balance of talent and schedules needed
  • Oversee and maintain the applicable jurisdiction volunteer status requirements
  • Develop and manage volunteer schedule and list of volunteer needs
  • Maintain volunteer hour tracking system and submit to HQ monthly
  • Partner with leadership and assist staff in identifying volunteer needs and projects
  • Plan and execute internal and external volunteer appreciation events
  • Gather and analyze feedback forms from volunteers

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Senior Leader responsible for ensuring productivity, efficiency and accuracy in work performed.
  • In the absence of the IL Administrator, maintains payroll and timesheets for all assigned staff; forwards to Human Resources bi-weekly.
  • Identifies unacceptable performance and behavior exhibited by employees and takes appropriate action; utilizes progressive discipline policy when appropriate and maintains documentation as required.
  • Assures assigned staff follows established policies and procedures at all times.
  • Screens, interviews, and hires new staff on an as needed basis.
  • Updates job descriptions and department procedures on an as needed basis.

Performance and Professionalism

  • Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy at all times according to policies and procedures; uses discretion when discussing confidential matters
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior with residents, families, co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and other department staff
  • Maintains positive working relationships with management and coworkers; willingly follows directions and requests as appropriate
  • Exhibits professional standards through appearance and demeanor consistent personnel standards
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of work assignments and performs in a manner to meet quality and timeliness objectives
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures; seeks clarification or interpretation from appropriate supervisor when needed
  • Uses tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in all relations with others.

Professional Development

  • Demonstrates professional development/skills competency in all activities
  • Participate in educational opportunities appropriate for position. Participate in projects or committees as assigned
  • Maintain all certifications necessary for employment
