The new Business Intelligence and Analytics center of excellence is in search of a Sr. Data Analyst to help us achieve our mission of enabling actionable insights throughout Ingersoll Rand to increase revenue, improve productivity, and better serve our customers. We are transforming the organization by creating streamlined, sustainable, and maintainable data infrastructure and systems.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Data & Analytics, this role will work with businesses to solve meaningful problems by preparing, analyzing, and understanding data to deliver insights, predict emerging trends, and provide recommendations to deliver results. This role will collaborate with the entire Business Intelligence & Analytics team, including data analysts, data engineers, data architects, and data strategists to bring analytical rigor and sound statistical methods to the entire Ingersoll Rand organization. The ideal candidate loves data, cool algorithms, and impactful visualizations. They blend math, developer skills, and an understanding of business to find compelling answers to meaningful questions in data.

They have a passion for using data to solve problems and enjoy keeping up-to-date with the latest technologies. Specific Responsibilities: * Data science projects: * Retrieve and combine data from databases, data historians, and big data platforms with a strong emphasis on developer skills, particularly using scripting languages * Perform exploratory data analysis for quality control and improved data understanding * Build, analyze, and compare statistical and machine learning models * Deploy data products to end-users and document results in technical reports * Synthesize and present findings to stakeholders, including strategic implications and recommended actions to optimize business performance * Scale insights to maximize the impact of recommended actions through centralized reporting and new or enhanced business processes * Add content to the data hub / big data platforms that serve the needs of the team's current reporting and analytics requirements while supporting future expansion with new data sources * Contribute to multiple analytics projects that drive actionable insights leading to market share gains, increased revenue and profit, and cost reductions * Serve as data & analytics expert and empower analysts in the business through training on published datasets, tools, and analytical approaches * Transform source data into conformed data and build compelling visualizations using data / BI tools that compel audiences to take action * Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports Required Qualifications: * Demonstrated coding proficiency with SQL, Python, and R, and experience with Alteryx, data infrastructure, and big data solutions * Expertise with data visualization techniques using tools like Tableau and Qlik * Demonstrated skills in the design, development, and validation of descriptive and predictive analytics * 5+ years of relevant work experience, including 3+ years in data analytics / data science in a fast-paced, complex environment * Advocate and model for writing clean, maintainable code and technical documentation * Experience with supporting data governance and data quality initiatives, including developing and implementing data standards, policies, practices, and procedures to improve data integrity * Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience Preferred Qualifications: * 5+ years in data analytics / data science in a fast-paced, complex environment * Experience with VBA, Oracle, Access, Salesforce, and other BI tools * Experience in business analytics or finance * Master's degree in related field We are committed to achieving workforce diversity reflective of our communities.
