Job Description

The Director of Research and UX Design will lead deep dives into our North American market verticals (Fashion, Infrastructure & Construction, Manufacturing & Engineering, Agriculture, Health & Nutrition, Licensing), collaborating with the Product Management team and market verticals to develop and implement customer research strategies. This research will help us identify customer needs, test pilots, and launch world class products and innovative digital solutions. Work closely with internal stakeholders from marketing, sales, product, data analytics and other departments as well as with our commercial and vendor partners to identify business opportunities, conduct in-depth research, and design and test digital products, with the goal of bringing suppliers, buyers, and service providers together to do business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Research & UX Design at Informa Markets North America to make sure we deliver high-quality value to our customers
  • Build a team including research, UX design and product analytics
  • Create quantitative and qualitative research strategies and design investigations to understand customer behaviors, pain points, needs and aspirations to estimate the value and scope of new and existing products and generate product growth experimentation pipeline
  • Collaborate with Product Growth team members to turn ambiguous problems and big ideas into a roadmap of research and experiments, defining OKRs, and interpreting results
  • Build a portfolio of research types, experiments and multi-cycle strategy and manage the execution across multiple teams within Informa Markets
  • Conduct user research interviews of various types, from behavioral interviews to prototype/concept testing to focus groups to surveys
  • Direct and contribute to wireframes, prototypes, and interaction design
  • Support the strategy, creation and enhancement of market-specific Insights offerings
  • Help us embed research and design into our product development process and decision-making, from development and evolution of methodologies, to building up the logistical processes for all of us to execute on research
  • Advocate for research-based decision-making to senior stakeholders
  • Interpret and synthesize ambiguous information, including interviews, qualitative and quantitative data, and other sources. Document and communicate important insights, and provide strategic recommendations on new digital product opportunities
Qualifications

  • 5-10 years experience in user research, product research, product analytics and/or UX design
  • Experience creating, executing and analyzing user and product research across various markets, with demonstrated success using research tactics tailored to specific market needs to make impactful business recommendations
  • Expertise working with multiple data sets such as telemetry, sentiment, and unstructured data sets and combining them with qualitative insights to identify themes and trends
  • Deep and practical familiarity with human centered design processes, including: the jobs to be done framework, personas, ethnography
  • Experience planning, developing and conducting complex User Research and Testing projects, and ability to build and scale these processes in the midst of uncertainty
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Knowledge of core principles of user interface design and user testing, including information architecture, site mapping, card sorting, usability evaluation techniques, perception, cognition, task analysis, and experimental design
  • Expertise facilitating workshops for in person and remote settings
  • Ability to influence others and effectively manage cross-functional projects and working groups
  • Ability to communicate at an executive level, both formally and informally (verbally, writing, presentations)
