Department: Maintenance

SUMMARY

Repairs and maintains mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and limited electrical components of production equipment such as furnaces, generators, material handling system, water system, paste tables, ring lathe, and any other applicable automated systems by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

Performs all preventative maintenance tasks in a timely fashion as scheduled. (i.e.. daily, weekly, monthly). Completes PM worksheets and submits to supervisor.

Schedules and completes all Maintenance Job Requests in a timely manner. Submits to supervisor upon job completion.

Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunction(s).

Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to the problem area. Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems. Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of machines and equipment. Realigns calibrates and adjusts all necessary hardware and components to maintain proper function. Locates damaged air, water, and hydraulic pipes and measures.

  • · Verifies proper operation of all machines and equipment after repair by starting and/or cycling as necessary.
  • · Uses power tools such as drills, grinders, saws and sanders to repair broken parts or make repair parts.
  • · Organizes tools and inventories spare parts to perform all maintenance tasks in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • · Knowledge of all plant instrumentation in the region
  • · Ability to problem solve in the manufacturing and calibrating of equipment.
  • · Performs all duties in compliance with safety requirements.
  • · Always maintains a safe and clean working environment.
  • · Satisfies customers' quality requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May assist in supervising employees in the maintenance department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance • with the organization's policies and applicable laws. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, explosives, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Personal protective equipment must be worn.
