Maintenance Lead

SUMMARY
Position requires a self-motivated, creative employee to plan, layout, fabricate, assemble, install, research and repair sheet metal parts, equipment and products in accordance with fabrication drawings, cutting orders, bills of materials or other documentation associated with the project by performing the following duties. Work with necessary contractors in order to complete necessary new installations or repairs. When there are no maintenance activities, this position will report to the Production Manager for Production assignments.

Lead, manage and Accountability
Affectively takes charge of the repair activities, quickly assesses the situation and provides management with the necessary work, parts and estimated time to correct the repair. Quickly responds to all emergency repair activities. Responds with a sense of urgency, communicates well with good written and verbal skills and a "teamwork" approach to the repair request in order to minimize production downtime. Must possess strong problem-solving, technical skills and demonstrate attention to detail.
Facilities Maintenance
Includes all property and buildings maintenance. Activities not within the skill level, will work with the Operations Manager or Sub-contractors in order to coordinate getting the correct work done.
Safety
Safety must always be exercised while making repairs or installing of new projects. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be used at all times during all activities associated with this position responsibility. Is a member of the Safety Committee.
Purchasing / Inventories
Considers costs, quantities, life expectancy of parts, guarantees/warrantees, shipping costs and vendor performance when coordinating maintenance purchases.
Operations efficiency
Appropriate tools are provided in order to efficiently conduct installs or repairs to most basic operations. It is the responsibility of the employee in this position to maintain organization and proper working order of tools and area. Know and practice Lean Continuous Improvement activities while conducting repairs and installations. Collaborates with employees in the area in order to coordinate the most efficient time that the machine can be down or activity completed so that repairs /installations can be conducted without down time expense.
Quality
Quality expectations regarding the repair and/or purchase of new or replacement materials and sub-contracting services must be taken into the decision making process in an effort to save costs in the long term and not the short term.
Cost Control
Within making decisions regarding costs, "total costs" must be taken into consideration during the decision making process regarding repair activities or parts replacement.
Tool care
Tools have been provided for this operation. It is the responsibility of the maintenance person to maintain these tools and keep them in operational condition. Recommend the purchase of additional tools that can provide a safer more efficient mode of work.
Education
Requires strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. High School diploma with Two-year Technical College Certificate and/or 4 years of maintenance experience within a small to medium size manufacturing company.
