Job Description

Position Overview
Under minimal supervision provides direction and oversight of project assessment, performance of
improvement, and corrective action functions of the Project Quality Assurance Plan (PQAP) for the DUF6
conversion project to ensure compliance with contract and customer requirements, U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE) Orders, and federal regulations. The specific work assignment may include duties or
activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other
duties as assigned:

Functional:

  • Manages the quality system to assure compliance with the contract and customer requirements, DOE Orders, federal regulations, and the organizational PQAP
  • Maintains accountability to DOE, the Environment, Safety, Health & Quality Assurance Director, and the Plant Managers for QA policies and programs that foster high-quality project performance, an effective and compliant NQA-1 program, and the PQAP
  • Provides oversight of all QA activities for the DUF6 project
  • Publishes, implements, and oversees all QA programs, policies, and procedures
  • Ensures all requirements, DOE Orders, and federal regulations flow down into organizational policies and procedures
  • Sets quality goals and develops strategic plans for achieving a “zero defect” level of quality
  • Establishes quality performance indicators with annual improvement goals
  • Integrates quality into all aspects of work ensuring site operations comply with the PQAP
  • Conducts internal audits, inspections, and surveillance of all quality activities on the project
  • Provides analytical services
  • Promotes continuous improvement
  • Mentors site QA leads
  • Leads oversight/validation of the PQAP
  • Provides quality control services to conversion operations
  • Interfaces with DOE

Competencies:

  • Possesses strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with moderate attention-to-detail
  • Administers advanced level written and verbal communication skills
  • Possesses advanced PC skills to include Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat
  • Demonstrates the ability to apply organizational practices, policies and procedures in performing a wide variety of related administrative tasks
  • Maintains the judgment and discretion to properly discern and safeguard highly-sensitive information and documents, including company-proprietary information, and classified or otherwise sensitive national security information

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Industrial Management or related science or equivalent
  • 20+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • 4+ years of nuclear experience
  • NQA-1 Lead Auditor certification (preferred)
