Preferred Skills and Experience
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. As a Sr. Propulsion Component Engineer you will own all aspects of spacecraft component design from concept to product realization, while working closely with a fast-paced, agile team that strives to make a high-performance spacecraft from a clean sheet design.
Responsibilities
- Design propulsion system valves and actuators
- Own all aspects of component design from concept to product realization
- Generate detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings
- Perform fluid, thermal, and structural analysis as required
- Work with the team and external sources to procure materials, fabricate parts, and complete assemblies
- Conduct rigorous component design and qualification testing
- Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in valve or component design
- Hands-on experience working with fluid, electrical and mechanical systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in CAD software with ability to learn new tools
- Demonstrated ability in requirements definition, conceptual design, procurement, fabrication, assembly and testing of hardware
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience designing and operating high reliability, high performance hardware
- Experience with on-orbit propulsion components
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
- Strong project management skills and effective communication of technical concepts across multi-disciplinary teams
Additional Requirements:
- Flexible schedule and willing to travel as needed
