Job Description
Salary: $90,000

Our client is a leader in custom injection molding company and is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer Supervisor. The role will be responsible in providing the necessary leadership and directions to the Manufacturing Engineering Department as well as in providing support to the Molding and Assembly Departments. This position is based in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Responsibilities

 

• Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
• Develops, maintains, and improves manufacturing methods.
• Confers with engineering and sales staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
• Designs and fabricates automation equipment to support production and assembly requirements.
• Provides cost estimates for fixtures to support production and assembly.
• Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
• Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
• Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
• Participates in NPI and other production planning meetings and ensures department expectations, goals, and deadlines are met.
• Manages special projects.
• Assists with analyzing department staffing needs and succession planning. Interviews and selects employees to fill vacant positions.
• Conducts evaluations of employee’s performance and corrective action. Facilitates performance improvement through training, coaching and mentoring.
• Promotes the quality system and follows quality system guidelines. Ensures staff are educated and understands quality system requirements.


Requirements

  • Must have a B.A./B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a combination of relevant experience, education and training
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience in injection molding, designing area layouts and work cells, and/or manufacturing cost reduction, preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Must understand, be familiar with, and/or knowledgeable of the following:
  1. Read and understand blueprints and part specifications.
  2. Basic understanding of injection mold design and window study techniques.
  3.  Performing root cause analysis.
  4. Advanced computer skills (MRPII, spreadsheet, word processing, Pro/E, etc.).
  5. Advanced knowledge and experience in CAD systems.
  6. Advanced machining knowledge and experience in the operation of fabrication equipment (i.e. mills, grinders, lathes, etc.).
  7. Programming and running CNC equipment.
  8. Advanced knowledge in Process Control technology involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics.
  9. Advanced knowledge of PLC, preferred.
  • Must be a team player and must be able to work well under pressure.
