As a Learning Experience Designer, you will work with UX designers, instructional designers, assessment designers, game designers, artists, developers, and other professionals to create high-quality learning experiences for students in grades Pre-K through 12 across multiple subject areas. The type of projects you will work on will be diverse, from helping to design a new learning game, or creating standardized interactions for a product, to designing a solution to a complicated, unique challenge facing the company.
What you will do Work with cross-functional teams using the Design thinking process to help create exceptional online and hybrid learning experiences for students in grades Pre-k through 8th Create, maintain, and employ user personas in the design process Lead design sprints and ideation exercises with cross-functional teams Use a variety of tools, such as UX prototyping software and content authoring tools, to create rapid prototypes and final designs Conduct user tests with students and educators to find opportunities to improve designs and products Present and promote the use of qualitative and quantitative data in the design and development of learning experiences Contribute to the development and implementation of content templates by distilling interactions into repeatable, scalable patterns Help design gamification, narratives, and game mechanics that enrich rather than distract from the learning content Enhance current online learning experiences by applying cognitive psychology principles, learning theories including Situated Learning and Cognitive Apprenticeship, and instructional design best practices Advocate for learning experiences that move beyond simple direct instruction to include opportunities for experiential learning Help organize and prioritize work, manage projects within scope, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders Stay up to date with learning trends
What you needStrong knowledge of learning theories Experience implementing instructional design best practices Experience using UX prototyping tools or content authoring tools to create prototypes Experience using various research methods and analyses to determine learning needs and ensure the learning solutions meet those needs Experience using the Design Thinking process to create educational materials Experience gaining consensus within a team and across multiple departments and stakeholders Sensitivity to confidential information and ability to respond with both tact and directness when needed Active listening skills, perceptiveness of reactions of others, and ability to respond appropriately to concerns with potential solutions
