About the Role
If you have an innate desire to understand how technologies work and find ways to improve them, we have an opportunity with your name written all over it! We are looking for an exceptional Senior Data Engineer who is passionate about database architecture, data patterns, ETL tools, and building high-performance systems.  The Data Analytics & Reporting team at Icario fosters a DevOps culture to provide technology services, infrastructure, processes, and tools. We place a strong emphasis on open source technologies, web-scale architectures, and Cloud-based services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).  We work with technologies such as Redshift, QuickSight, Glue, Step Functions, Tableau, SQL, Talend, Terraform, Python and Git. In this position you will report directly to the VP, Data Analytics & Reporting.

  • Become the data solutions point of contact for other departments, working cross-functionally to scope, design and implement data solutions for internal and external data sources.
  • Maintain data operations through automated workflows, monitoring, and reporting tools.
  • Develop new ETL jobs to support new data sources and Data Analytics needs.
  • Work with Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Engineers, Product Owners and Developers to understand business requirements and specific data related issues.
  • Work within an Agile methodology to design, develop, test, and implement Data Warehouse features and functions.
  • Ability to develop new skills and evolve within an entrepreneurial organization.

  • 12+ years experience in a technical role such as database administration, database architecture, data modeling, ETL development, or data warehouse operations. 
  • Act as principal architect and subject-matter expert for data technologies, patterns and operations. 
  • Lead evaluation and design efforts in data management & data engineering initiatives 
  • Exceptional SQL skills and ability to use Java, Python, Scala and other programming and scripting languages to import, export, and manage data. 
  • Basic Linux skills and understanding of open source software. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and engage with all service stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior development resources, both within the Data Warehouse team as well as in other business units.
