Job Description

IAT has an immediate opening for a part time Administrative Assistant in our Naperville, IL location.  The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing support to the regional office in a fashion consistent with company policy and procedures. This involves interfacing with regional office underwriters, lawyers, home office personnel, agents and principals. The position would be approximately 30 hours per week.

 Responsibilities:

  • Effectively investigates, reviews, analyzes and resolves surety claims
  • Intakes, processes and prepares initial response to new surety payment bond claims, including generation, copying, mailing and filing of letters
  • Investigates and formulates responses to surety payment bond claims under the supervision of Sr. Claims Counsel
  • Provides general administrative support for the Sr. Claims Counsel
  • Calendaring
  • Prepare analysis and report on recommended disposition of surety bond claims to  Sr. Claims Counsel
  • Assists Sr. Claims Counsel in litigation management
  • Serves as a point of contact for communications with claimants, principals and other counterparties
  • Facilitates file management including document scanning into claims flow and photocopying
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the company processes and systems (AS400 claims system)
  • Handles confidential information professionally and consistent with IFIC policies
  • Other job-related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • High School degree required with completion of college level courses a plus
  • Dependable/punctual
  • Knowledge of the claims process (investigation, contract interpretation, negotiation, and knowledge of relevant laws)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with lawyers, company employees and external clients
  • Ability to analyze the claims, use logic and reasoning to identify solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems, and implement a plan to resolve the claims in a manner consistent with local laws and the procedures of the company
  • Proficient in utilizing MS Office software (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access) and ability to learn and follow company claims systems and procedures
