Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist (FAIS) Joint Base Langley Eustis, Langley AFB, VA FLSA Status: Fulltime/Exempt/Professional Description: The Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist (FAIS) encompasses the roles of both the Treatment Manager and Outreach Manager. The FAIS must meet the qualifications of and has responsibilities for both Family Advocacy Treatment Managers (FATMs) and Family Advocacy Outreach Managers (FAOMs). The Family Advocacy Officer (FAO) will determine what percentage of time the FAIS shall spend in the respective areas. Essential Functions: The FAIS is a member of the multidisciplinary Family Advocacy Program (FAP) team and works in the prioritized capacities: The maltreatment component to assess families referred for suspected maltreatment and treats individuals, families, and groups whose maltreatment allegation(s) met criteria for maltreatment. To provide voluntary, comprehensive prevention services (primarily home-based) to families to prevent the occurrence of family maltreatment. To provide voluntary prevention counseling to individuals, families, or groups who are at risk for maltreatment. The FAIS directs the development and implementation of prevention services and provides community behavioral health education, family violence education and prevention training (annually, to new personnel and leadership personnel), resource finding and service linking, and prevention program interventions to promote protective factors and to address maltreatment risk factors. Required Education and Experience/Qualifications: Master’s degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited school. Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the independent level with current, unrestricted State license. Must obtain privileges at the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Must obtain and maintain Basic Life Support Certification (Course C). Current two years’ full-time post-master’s degree experience (within the last three years) in professional clinical counseling service program for domestic violence. Experience treating men, women, and children. Experience as a group therapy facilitator or co-leader. Technical Skills: PC Proficiency, specifically Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and data entry skills to create and maintain clinical record keeping duties. Physical Requirements: The employee frequently is required to sit, stand; walk; use hands or fingers to handle objects or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, kneel, stoop and crouch. The employee may lift objects up to 20 pounds. The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Work Environment: This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Travel may be required as needed and is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected and will comply with Joint Travel Regulation (JTR). Majority of travel will be one-night stays. Less frequently, some personnel may be asked to provide services for 2-3 weeks. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, general hours of work are 0700 and 1730, Monday through Friday except for US Holidays, when the Government facility/installation is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar Government-directed facility/installation closings.
