Job Description

The Product Engineer, OEM Account will report to the Product Engineering Manager, StampTech and will reside in the Gallatin, TN Manufacturing Facilty. The position will be responsible for the product realization phases for new product developments for their assigned OEM account(s) which contribute to the division's strategic intent and growth of StampTech's product portfolio. This role requires product and tooling development expertise, design capabilities utilizing software, understanding of data analysis tools, personal flexibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects working with several stakeholders. At times, this individual may be required to directly interface with the customer to support the application team and/or a specific project.
  • Guide Applications Engineering and Sales Team in product design influenced by manufacturing feasibility input and operational capabilities.
  • Support product design and development with the use of computer aided design (CAD) software to develop technical proposals for sheet metal stamping strip layouts and tool design.
  • Lead manufacturing feasibility reviews and design changes seeking input and historical knowledge from operations, quality and engineering.
  • Responsible for sourcing vendors, forecasting cost and timing, validation of prototypes and tooling.
  • Manage all timelines associated with prototype and tool builds in relation to overall project timing requirements.
  • Responsible for prototype and tooling vendor management which include onsite audits and inspection of product, processes, capabilities and facilities.
  • Develop market based product pricing for sales quotation purposes which meets margin expectations through the construction of cost worksheets using predetermined or developed costs for raw materials and conversion processes.
  • Responsible for managing the tool build and production launch processes for newly awarded business in assigned OEM accounts.
  • Support post-launch continuous improvement activities.
  • As needed, support sales teams through direct interaction with the customer.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience or area of study.
  • 3-5 years of related work experience; stamping/metal forming and/or automotive experience preferred.
  • Proficient CAD software experience: SolidWorks preferred.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office software products.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001; IATF 16949 preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with ability and willingness to communicate, and work with other regions.
  • Approximately 10% travel; primarily domestic and occasionally world-wide.
