Job DescriptionThe Operations Finance Manager will provide financial analysis support, primarily to the manufacturing and distribution portions of the business, including maintaining the processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation. Responsible for gathering and analyzing cost expenditures to identify inconsistencies in operational costs and advise practices to improve cost efficiency. This position reports to the Divisional Controller and works within a team of accounting and finance professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works closely with operations team to analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing, freight, and labor methods to determine effects on costs.
- Set up standard cost for new products, reviewed formulas, and update standard cost for existing products.
- Reconciled, balances between sub-ledger and general ledger monthly and provide explanations and recommendations for the variances.
- Oversees inventory reconciliation through physical/cycle counting, documentation, and record retention.
- Review costs for all external inventory, labor, and material purchases and recommend costs and cost savings.
- Supports enterprise initiatives of cost efficiency including cost reduction initiatives and capital projects analysis.
- Perform Monthly Analysis primarily on but not limited to: material margin and variable margin analysis, FTB 80/20 and Management Reporting, OSMI calculations and PPV analysis
- Work within JDE to provide financial support and reporting through analyzed weekly work order variance reports, labor variance reports, purchase price variance reports, and implemented corrective and preventive measures.
- Develop or re-engineer financial processes to increase efficiency and support emerging business initiatives including a leadership role in the expansion of our business intelligence reporting dashboard.
- Leverages financial analytics to build business cases, present results, and recommendation to Senior Management. Facilitates issue resolution/dealing with ambiguity.
- Validate revenue and cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close
- Assist in internal audits
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, business administration or related field.
- CMA certification preferred
- 3-5 year of relevant experience inventory/management accounting experience, preferably supporting a manufacturing operation/business.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Working knowledge of general ledger functions
- Robust professional communication skills
- Strong team contributor
- Excellent skills with Excel and entire Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with accounting software (JDE or another full-scale ER software)
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Detail oriented, with accurate and precise attention to detail.
